Elliot is what American Idol should be about. Here's a kid who's just thankful for the opportunity to get a shot like this and whether he would've been voted off six weeks ago or whenever, his exit would have been just as classy. You could tell he was genuinely thankful for the opportunity to be there and enjoyed every second of it.
"Nice way to talk about a diabetic with an insulin pump and 90% hearing loss in one ear. Not to mention a mom who's not in the best of health herself. I think he did pretty damn good!"
and you speak any better about Kat, Lucious?
Seriously, I didnt get what Kat's mom did that offended everyone.

Doodlenyc, the second it was announced that Elliot was going home, she jumped up and started screaming and clapping, and looked into the camera and mouthed "Thank you America!" I know she was psyched for her kid, but geez, she could have comported herself with a bit more class.
P.S. Your avatar is great--it always cracks me up!

Thnks, Blue.
That's the reason everyone hates her mother and her? I'm not sure my mom would've been able to do anything different then her mom did, given the stress and excitement.

No Zone, it's not just that for me. I can't stand Kat and think she is wayyyyy overrated vocally. I also never, ever see her connect with what she sings. Watching her is like a three minute shampoo commercial. Taylor, Elliot and Chris have way more substance to me.

I am amazed at the strong opinions people have of these poor kids, like we really know them at all. Kat's mom and dad have done nothing but support their kid. Noone is very ill in her family, so they arent allowed to be happy for their daughter?
"hate the entitled princess and her obnoxious Mc Mother with the fire of a thousand burning suns."
Jeepers. I save feelings that strong for people I know.
people just need something to bitch about and they honestly can't find anything really wrong with Kat so they have to pcik at this dumb ****ing excuse of a fault
Really? How about she looks like Barbie's evil twin (I think she is pretty, but her stylistic intuition is way off.) She has no connection to the lyrics of the song she is singing. She tries way too hard to be Whitney/Xtina whoever, uses the camera as if she were in a porn film...

I've repeatedly stated that in my opinion Katherine is a marginally talented, albeit attractive, performer who sings every other song flat and off-key. She does not come across as real, and her on-screen persona appears phony. Those comments are directed toward her performing abilities, or lack thereof. That's a far cry from calling someone an ape, in an obvious reference to their physical characteristics.

Doodle, b/c it's a message board, it's an entertainment show, and the viewing public forms opinions about what's shown to them on tv. As long as people don't insult their fellow posters here (which I have never done), why can't we be opinionated? Based upon what I've seen on my tv, I can't stand Kat or her fam. I was also annoyed a few weeks back when it was reported that her dad went up to chastize Simon during the break to complain tht he was being too hard on his angel. Blech.

Once again, I can't for the life of me see what's "phony" about Katharine. SHe sure was a LOT less phony than Chris Daughtry. Is it just easy to call her that because she's a pretty girl who led a seemingly easy life? She really doesn't seem like she's TRYING to be anything, she's just there doing her thing. I'm sorry so many people find me phony.
Also...if people don't like Katharine because of her mother, that's just pathetic.

From NY POST article:
"Ever watch her face when she doesn't know the camera is on? She has this whole Damien the Omen thing going on - scowling and ticked-off. But the second she realizes a camera is anywhere near her, she lights up so beatifically, she'd make dearly departed Mother Teresa look like a cheap scam artist."
Maybe that's why. Or at least one of the reasons.
I think Katharine has a good voice. I found a clip of her "Over the Rainbow" (I missed the show) and I thought it was her personal best. However, I don't like how she looks longingly into the camera and gets agitated at Paula. She even said "You guys have been really hard on me the past couple weeks". Uh, yeah because she hasn't been doing so great. Maybe she can learn to understand that the judges' comments (though perhaps not always right) give her the opportunity to go, "Hey, I think I should really try harder next time." But, for me, she just doesn't seem to get the concept of practice and she may need to get in her head that she isn't the best. I don't like her attitude, and the glimpses I get of her parents cheering and shouting because their precious daughter wasn't voted off just ruffles my feathers. That doesn't make them bad people, but it doesn't make them look good either. My 2 cents.
Sorry, L, I thought you called her a pod, my mistake....oh, wait, yes you did...but I guess pod was meant as a compliment?
Everyone should have their opinions, that's fine...I was only commenting on how harsh the language is for these kids/their parents.
I expect everyone here would handle the show much better than Katharine.
I never heard a "report" that Kat's dad spoke to Simon for being harsh...if I did I certainly wouldnt bet that it was true...like the "reports" I've heard that Chris and Taylor are a-holes backstage...it's just IDOL gossip (hee)!
I am only surprised at the level of people's feelings and how strong the language is against some of these contestants, and that is what I was commenting on.

No. You weren’t mistaken. It was a reference to her soul-less delivery and "Stepford" like quality. It had nothing to do with her appearance, and it's a far cry from calling someone an ape based on their physical characteristics. What's so difficult to grasp?
I think I've grasped what I need to.
Enjoy the finale everyone!
Eh, if you want to analyze facial expressions, just watch Taylor when he sings. I don't know if he's constipated, in the middle of orgasm, or what, but that dude makes some weird faces.
Also, everytime I see Kat's mom there are four words that flash through my mind:
"NO MORE WIRE HANGERS!!!"
