Isn't RJ a Christian recording artist now?

Phil was surprisingly good, Jordin was excellent, Lakisha was below average, Chris was nasal, Melinda was Melinda, Blake was pretty decent and of course, Sanjaya was godawful.
I think Jordin's going to end up winning.

I agree; Phil WAS surprisingly good tonight. I still want him to go home. He annoys the hell out of me. Sanjaya's performance was pitiful. I think he'll squeak by another week, but the novelty is wearing thin, and I think the worm is definitely beginning to turn for him. My guess is that Chris will be going home tomorrow night. And I predict the final 3 will be Jordin, Melinda and Blake. Although, I thought Blake’s performance tonight left a lot to be desired. I think Jordin gave the best performance, with Melinda a close second.

Melinda can do ANYTHING!
Sanjaya was the worst he's been so far and that's pretty bad. Now it's really time for him to go. He doesn't belong in this group.
I never thought I'd say this, but some men actually should wear a toupee-Phil.

Melinda looks great with longer hair. Not that she looked old in the first place, but it makes her look much younger. It's very pretty on her.
I love Jordin. She's adorable, and my goodness, can she SING! She may not be the best singer there... I suppose LaKisha (sp?) probably is, but she seems to have so little personality on stage.

Posted: 4/18/07 at 12:48ami honestly don't think LaKisha is that good... she doesn't really have a range of genres, and doesn't connect at all with the audience or television screen...

TheHumanTorch, I completely agree.
Blake is my little muffin top. I love him. I love his voice--it's so melodic and Howard Jones-y. He is the ONLY one out of this bunch I'd pay to see in concert this second and sit there, happily, for two hours to both listen to and watch. Someone doesn't have to be a powerhouse for me to enjoy them. It didn't sound like a country song at all. I thought he did well with it.
Jordin was terrific. My fave gal! I disagreed when they said it was her best performance to date, though. I thought she did her best when she sang "I Who Have Nothing" a few weeks ago. THAT blew me away and made me want to cry.
Lakisha blew. Chris blew. Melinda bored me--I felt she was overpraised and I hated that song (she looked nice, though). Phil was decent for Phil. I don't like him generally, but I like his attitude...he genuinely seems to be enjoying his Idol experience. Sanjaya looked like Corey Clark.

Are you mad, darling? Blake was so out of tune that I actually had to put it on mute a few times...yes, the timbre of his voice is generally lovely, but he had some EXTREMELY noticeable pitch problems last night. I was cringing all over the place...
I can't even GO THERE with Chris Richardson. He needs to go, and NOW. There is absolutely ZERO appeal to his voice. It's incredibly thin, bright, ultra-nasal, and his pitch is appalling.
This is ALL about Jordin now. Melinda is good, but Jordin's a frickin STAR.

Jaily I lurve him! I genuinely didn't notice if he was out of tune.
Lakisha was yelling, though, and had dead eyes again. Richardson was horrendous.
I'd personally prefer a final two of Jordin and Blake, but I can't see Melinda not being final two.

You just think he's pretty. :-P I don't understand how anybody who is NOT deaf didn't hear how out of tune he was...and my poor partner, who has an even better sense of pitch than I do, actually left the room until he was done.
I have been over Lakisha for WEEKS. Yes, she can sing, but the bitch cannot PERFORM. She's almost uncomfortable to watch.
I would really like to see a Jordin/Melinda final two, but we all know that's not gonna happen...they seem hell-bent on making it a boy/girl thing.
Bastards.

lol. I really don't just think he's pretty. I adore him, but he's not my "type" at all. I don't think he was the best he's ever been, but I did still like him.
Enough with the guest judges! Only a few have actually been useful. I liked it better when they just had the theme nights.

Yes, everyone had a moment or two, but Chris and Blake were just ghastly.
Even my dear, beloved, perfect Jordin had a shaky note here or there, but she recovered well.
And, I mean, look at her. *swoon* I think I have a Big Gay Crush on her.

I really like Blake, but I also felt that wasn't his best performance. But going by what the judges say, I can only assume their voices and performances in general sound different in the studio than on the broadcast.
My only gripe with this season is that there hasn't really been any knockout performances like in previous seasons. I think only Melinda's "Home" comes close to that.
I'm interested to see how the voting went last night. I predict Chris, Phil, and LaKisha will be the bottom three.

Posted: 4/18/07 at 10:50amWhen will we see Sanjaya in the bottom three??? I honestly can't stand to look at him anymore (let alone listen to him).

I liked it better when they just had the theme nights.
The problem with the theme nights is that they seem designed to tie the hands of the contestants. They'll get reamed if the genre doesn't suit them, which seems a little unfair since most of them aren't going make a career out singing 60s music, or latin music or whatever.
I thought there were some decent guests this year. Lulu, I thought, was one of the very best. She seemed to actually be given them tips they could use, and you could see the results in the performances of the girls, especially compared to the guys that week, who didn't luck out quite as much with Peter Noone.
#724American Idol
Posted: 4/18/07 at 10:54amI usually like Blake, but let's face it, not every voice is made for all genres, and I don't think country is his genre. At all. I actually walked out of the room for him last night also.
