tell me about it mamie, i'm trying so hard to not buy the whole damned series but this thread won't die!
FYI, minus a deletion by a trigger-happy Moderator, I resolutely refuse to allow this thread to die.
Give in, RobbO.
can't singer. i can't live in the boxed set of buffy the vampire slayer - no matter how much i might like to.
I'm so proud of you Mamie! You did a wonderful thing!
Yes, Mamie. There will be no regrets.
"Juliet Landau...whom I believe is a somewhat-cousin of Martin, or perhaps niece"
Daughter, actually, of Martin Landau and Barbara Bain. And James Marsters is the same way. So California and so animated. He's even more of a shock, because his accent always came off more legit than Dru's did.
Spike: Whatcha doin', love?
Drusilla: I'm naming the stars.
Spike: You can't see the stars, love. That's the ceiling. Also it's day.
Drusilla: No, I can see them. But I've named them all the same name, and there's terrible confusion.
And RobbO, it is a very nice box. You might want to reconsider. If I had to live in any TV DVD Box Set, this would be the one...
Juliet Landau is Martin Landau's daughter. I think she's absolutely INCREDIBLE. I loved every show she was in and always wished they would find some way of bringing her back.
edit: LOL - you can type faster than me!
which set did you wind up getting and from where, mamie?
Dru has always been one of my favourite characters! I loved her insanity!
I was so happy to see her again in the first episode of the last season...
I got the complete (40 disk) set from Deep Discount DVD. It would have been nice if the discount had gone a little deeper - but I couldn't complain about the free shipping.
My boyfriend HATES Dru. Not in an "I want her off the show" way, he just loves hating her.
I love that she has some ridiculously funny things to say, and is facinating because she isn't treated like a child. She may be crazy, but she is still allowed to be a sexual and deadly character. No one forgot that she was capable of some serious damage. Like, to a certain owner of Mr. Pointy...
And I loved her whole Daddy-Grandmother-Mother-Daughter Family non-sense over on Angel, too. JUST what that storyline needed, and a great surprise.
RobbO, don't lie. I know you can fit inside that box.
WYou, let's also talk about the fact that one little James Marsters, hottie at large, is in his mid-to-late 40s now. He was somewhere around 37 or so when he began on Buffy.
LORD. Even today, he looks better than many, many 20 year olds.
I'm sorry I missed her on that. I just could never get into Angel. Every time I tried I just lost it half way through a show. Maybe if I saw it the way I saw Buffy - all the way through and in order - I might feel differently. I'm guessing that around 2037 I'll be able to order the Angel set.
Mamie, this is why you just have to come up for an extended stay to watch the entire series with the rest of us Buffy/Angel freaks...err, fans.
wow, mamie, it's $30 cheaper than the same one on amazon. that's not helping!
Another favorite show of mine was "The Nanny". A favorite Nanny wisdom from that show was "If it ain't half off, it ain't on sale".
Oh, come on, RobbO! GET IT!!!! GET IT NOOOOOOW!!!!
*whispersinRobbOsear*
you need to do more than whisper in his ear to make him get the set, Guy. Hop to!
RobbO, I'm surprised you haven't heard of somewhatDeepDiscountDVD. It's a great site. Also DeepDiscountCd, if it's still around.
*starts licking RobbO's ear*
And this is for you, bway... and of course for me! *g*
oh, i've heard of DDDVD, et. al. but i've not had luck with them on several occasions. amazon is typically just as cheap and much, much more reliable in terms of customer service, quality and shipping speed. i'm very reluctant to order from them anymore...
You realize now, RobbO, that you just HAVE to buy it. If whispers don't work, how about math?
At deepdiscountdvd.com price, about $1.02 an episode.
A little less than $3.50 a disc.
And a nifty box to live in.
EDIT- I haven't had problems with them, but I tend to favor Amazon as well, in terms of arriving quickly and well-packaged.

I get all my DVD's from DDDVD - and that's been true for a couple of years now. I've never had any problem receiving the orders or with the quality of the tapes. If you go for the free shipping (which I always do) then you can expect up to a couple of weeks delay in receiving them. Pay for standard shipping and they'll arrive in a couple of days.
(I got an email yesterday from them letting me know that the order was on its way. Yay!)
Having said that - I haven't had as much luck with DDCD's. I rarely go there anymore. Like you, I use Amazon. I appreciate the convenience and choice they offer.
channels my inner sally field:
"no, no, it's not supposed to be like this!"
We'll all be very, VERY sad if you don't finally order the box, RobbO!
*keeps licking RobbO's ear*
luckily my ear is not connected to my wallet...
*licks... uhm... RobbO's... wallet*
