Once More With Feeling, Hush, and Becoming Parts 1 and 2
I love those too.
Wow, jasonf... Those are exactly the same episodes I would have chosen!
Hush is definitely my favourite of those.
I have to add some more:
Passion
The Wish
The Body
The Gift
Tabula Rasa
Storyteller
God, this show just has too many good episodes!

Has anyone mentioned "I Only Have Eyes For You"? One of the few Marti Noxon-written episodes that I loved.
My dad used to be a huge Buffy fan. When he coached my soccer team when I was little he wanted to name us the Buffy's, but he decided against that and we became the High Kickers.
If he was a REAL Buffy fan he would have advocated the Scoobies - which at least is sort of hidden... :)
Angel, Amends, Halloween, Beauty and the Beasts (I was a bit of a Buffy & Angel fan; sure that wasn't obvious)
I think Becoming was one of the best episodes of any show.
They have the COOLEST Buffy tshirt at Hot Topic right now! I almost picked one up yesterday, but chose to be responsible and bought work clothes instead.
However...next paycheck, that bitch is totally mine.

I am not just a fan, I am an obsessed fan. I love the show. I also love Angel and Firefly. I even go to the sci fi conventions to meet the actors when they come to town. So far I've met James Marsters (Spike), Anthony Stewart Head (Giles), Nicholas Brendon (Xander), Amber Benson (Tara), Robia LaMorte (Jenny Calender), Julie Bunz (Darla), and Harry Groener (The Mayor). The first weekend of September I am meeting Juliet Landau (Drucilla) and Morena Baccarin (Inara of Firefly).
My aptartment is full of action figures, books and photos from the show. I even have the Angel puppet from 'Smile Time'. It is quite insane. I am a very sick individual when it comes to this show. My friends make constant fun of me about this show and my obsession.
I watched Once More, With Feeling (my favorite episode) three times in a row last night. I need help.
My other favorite episodes:
Hush
The Body
Doppelgangland
Becoming 1 & 2
Chosen
I even read the comics. There is a "Season 8" comic coming out in the fall. It is written by Joss and takes place after 'Chosen'. It follows what happens to Buffy, Dawn and the rest of the slayers after the final episode. It should be interesting. I am really excited. I'm also crossing my fingers Joss finishes the Spike movie. I miss my Buffy.

My favorites! Ooh, Lord, this is tough.
My absolute favorite episode is the Wish.
(I notice many of them are from Season two and three, probably the best seasons of the show.)
Also: The Zeppo
School Hard (for the first appearance of a very special character) (season two)
Band Candy
Passion (season Two)
ITA that seasons 2 and 3 were the best on Buffy, singer.
But I was one of the few who hated The Wish. *shrug*
School Hard was a good one, and passion was...decent but heartbreaking, but can't say I'd put the others up there in favorites.
I think three of my favorite "moments" in the entire series were:
The voiceover as Giles comes home in Passion, sees the flowers and the drawing, goes upstairs to find Jenny in his bed...
Buffy running in slow motion as she goes to the library and finds Kendra.
Buffy coming home in the episode before "The Body" to find her mother on the couch.
Sad moments but that's what always got me about this show: it's kitschy, over-the-top and filled with these moments that just wrench at me.
And I'm a sucker for cheesy music and a knowing voiceover with a sad scene.
bwaysinger, I agree. Love the ability of these writers to so regularly trick me emotionally. Things are going so well, characters look so happy. Dialogue is so funny. Then...I'm in tears before I know what hit me. Moments like that really get me. I love a show that I will consistently laugh at, and appreaciate the fun and humor of that will suddenly do something that leaves me a blubbering mess.
Add to those crying times:
Anya's fruit punch speech in The Body.
Buffy's message to Dawn voice-over as she runs in slow-mo in The Gift
Xander's yellow crayon speech in Grave, and his "ordinary" speech to Dawn in Potential
Cordelia's dialogue with Angel in You're Welcome (on Angel)
I can also often be found listening to Full of Grace on my iPod, looking at my own reflection in the bus window as I drive out of town (well, out of Jersey and into the city)
PS- My dog is named after a Buffy character, too.
Well, re: the dog, I'm glad to know I'm not the only uber Buffy geek.
No, definitely not alone.
I'll have to find a picture of Miss Cordelia Chase when I get home. Until then, here are the new puppies (my Aunt's, but I suggested the names...)
Lilah & Lindsay
Along those same lines, that sad music that plays at the end of "Becoming, Part 2." Buffy kills Angel, Willow recouperates, Joyce stares out the window, and Buffy leaves town. What a meltdown I had that night. (Can you tell I love this episode?)
You're not the only one, GuyfromGermany. He won an Emmy for the Buffy and Angel music theme. Well deserved.
That'd be the only Emmy the show got, too, right? What a shame that, above all others, Anthony Stewart Head was never even nominated for his fascinating performance as Giles...and that Whedon never got a writing Emmy.
(he did get a nod, I believe, for Hush).
Nope. It also won an Emmy for make-up.
Those are what I call worthless awards.
I'm sure the makeup designer was happy to get it, though.
But the show deserved a writing and Best drama emmy or two.
i loved the scene when anya and xander learn about joyce's death and anya has an amazing speech that really affected me because her sense of loss was so real and palpable.
and as singer said, there was a good piece of music played over the scene. i cannot recall what it was, but it was real touching.
That's the famous fruit punch speech, right?
I believe I might have been having a convo with someone privately about that today...
it is singer, i just found it on the the evil and dreaded youtube - if you would like to see it check out:
Slipped Away - Buffy the Vampire Slayer (The Body Tribute)
from tv.com - Anya: But I don't understand! I don't understand how this all happens, how we go through this. I mean - I knew her, and then she's... there's just a body, and I don't understand why she just can't get back in it and not be dead anymore! It's stupid! It's mortal and stupid! And... and Xander's crying and not talking, and... and I was having fruit punch, and I thought, "Well, Joyce will never have any more fruit punch - ever, and she'll never have eggs, or yawn, or brush her hair, not ever," and no one will explain to me why.
thanks for that. Not like I don't have it on DVD but I might just have to go watch it again.
