thanks for that. Not like I don't have it on DVD but I might just have to go watch it again.
this is a good one too - also on the evil and dreaded youtube:

Top 5 moments from buffy the vampire slayer
the anya speech is the number 3 moment and has allison krauss & the union station's "it doesn't matter" playing over it. obviously the music was not in the episode but it is an amazing song.
Actually, that song is used on an episode in...shoot. I just saw it but we just went from the end of Season one into the beginning of Season Two.
I do believe it was the episode "When She was bad."
oh, and i love buffy's death in the gift before the series switched networks. even though it was such a good show, i think this "series finale" was far superior to the one that came afterwards.
Well, personally, I'm glad Buffy is the one slayer who, at least for now, hasn't died.
I always felt like you were supposed to see that, above all the other Slayers, Buffy was even more special.
did all the other back-up slayers die? the slayerettes as i like to call them.
Anya: Are they going to cut the body open?
Willow: Oh my god. Would you just stop talking, just shut your mouth, please.
Anya: What am I doing?
Willow: How can you act like that?
Anya: Am I supposed to be changing my clothes a lot? Is that the helpful thing to do?
Xander: Guys...
Willow: The way you behave...
Anya: Nobody will tell me.
Willow: Because it's not okay for you to be asking these things.
Anya: But I don't understand. I don't understand how it all happens, how we go through this. I mean, I knew her and then she's, there's just a body, and I don't understand why she just can't get back in it and not be dead anymore. It's stupid, it's mortal and stupid. And Xander's crying and not talking. And I was having fruit punch and I thought, well Joyce will never have any more fruit punch, ever, and she'll never have eggs or yawn or brush her hair, not ever. And no one will explain to me why...
I don't know any script sites, so I had to keep pausing the youtube clip and typing it in Word. But at least I know it's accurate, word for word.
I loved Joyce, had a really hard time when she left, but thought it was handled beautifully and only to help advance the character of Anya, who through this terrible time was able to have a character evolution.
Brilliant writing.
Oh, my dear Anya. I had a very nice PM talk about that moment today, too.
Gets me every time. And it isn't sad in a sentimental sense, or a a generic "Isn't Death Terrible" speech that any random character could have given.
It was character specific. The confusion, the pain, the not knowing what to do. Really beautifully acted, too. Emma Caulfield doesn't get enough credit for her work on that show.
Maniac, look at you, posting on the OT board. : )
I had to cross over at some point.
This was the perfect thread to make me do it.
That and the Paris Hilton thread.

If you want to find scripts, you should do a Google search for Buffy transcripts. The first link that comes up has them all, I think, and you'd probably be able to find others.
For just a synopsis of the episodes (Seasons 3-7 of Buffy and 1-5 of Angel) as well as very thoughtful commentary and analysis, I enjoyed reading this site back when the episodes were still airing. Not updated recently, but facinating.
Buffy and Angel Synopsis Guide & Analysis
Tv.com does a pretty good breakdown of most shows, too.
Oh, Anya. too bad Emma Caulfield's film career seemed to start and end with Darkness Falls.
It was a terrible movie, which is a shame once you've fallen in love with her on Buffy.
Try telling people who have only seen her in that movie what a talented actress she is. They usually don't believe you.
Unfortunately, I wouldn't blame them from that film. But it's not her fault.
I saw from IMDB she's doing voicovers on Robot Chicken, which I suppose is better than nothing.
I remembered her vaguely from 90210.
Speaking of speeches, one of my favorite all-time speeches was from...oh shoot...the episode that was postponed b/c of Columbine...where Buffy was reading minds and Jonathan almost killed himself? That speech she gave to him about everyone's lives sucking, everyone dealing with their own pain, that's why they ignore others and cause that...I was in my Junior High years. Boy did hearing a speech like that make me feel better.
Earshot. Great episode. Funny (we learn Cordelia thinks EXACTLY what she says) and timely. The speech you mentioned:
JONATHAN Stop saying my name like we're friends! We're not friends! You all think I'm an idiot! A short idiot!
BUFFY (matter-of-factly) I don't. I don't think about you much at all. Nobody here really does. Bugs you, doesn't it. You have all this pain, and all these feelings and nobody's really paying attention.
JONATHAN You think I just want attention?
BUFFY No. I think you're up in the clock tower with a high-powered rifle because you wanna blend in. Believe it or not, Jonathan, I understand about the pain.
JONATHAN Oh right. Cuz the burden of being beautiful and athletic, that's a crippler.
BUFFY You know what? I was wrong. You are an idiot. My life happens to, on occasion, suck beyond the telling of it. Sometimes more than I can handle. And it's not just mine. Every single person down there is ignoring your pain because they're too busy with their own. The beautiful ones. The popular ones. The guys that pick on you. Everyone. If you could hear what they were feeling. The loneliness. The confusion. It looks quiet down there. It's not. It's deafening.
Love this show.
I keep having this fantasy where Joss teams up with Aaron Sorkin for the wittiest, most well-written-and-developed show ever.
Reading Buffy's 'Earshot' speech just gave me chills (again).
Instead of all this drama, how about some of your favorite funny moments....like when Andrew tries to fly away in the jet pak and crashes into the roof immediately.....
The one episode that makes me cry is the one where Buffy goes to the prom and is acknowledged for helping keep the death toll down. A very touching episode.
I always loved all of Andrew's retelling of the way things happened, especially when he's fighting Dark Willow and holding off her magic. It's especially funny that they spliced it in with the actual episode.
The whole "Band Candy" episode is hilarious!
So is Giles' "Exposition Song" during the last episode of Season 4, "Restless"...
Ok. So when and where are we having our Buffy viewing party?
I had a big crush on Giles - always wanted to see him bend Xander over the library table and, well, you know.

Oh, please wait until I can visit NY!
I'll bring the German DVDs, too, and you can hear what the German dubbing sounds like!
The German translations are pretty bad, btw...
