Are You a Hypochondriac?

What does your score mean?
You appear to have some signs of hypochondria, but not to any extreme point. You worry about unusual symptoms a bit more than the average person, and occasionally blow normal aches and pains out of proportion. It may be necessary to keep a close watch on our health and make the effort to stay "in touch" with our own bodies, but it shouldn't be something that causes major anxiety. You may want to keep your hypochondriac tendencies in check so they don't get the best of you.

What does your score mean?
According to your answers, you don't generally obsess about your health or overreact to commonplace symptoms and ailments. Your physical well-being may very well be important to you (as it should be) but you know that distressing excessively about it won't protect you from health trouble - if it comes, you'll handle in then. Why waste your time worrying? As a result of your attitude, you're able to stay relatively calm and collected when you're feeling a little "off". As long as you put in the necessary effort to maintain a healthy body, your perspective is serving you well.

I think my lack of hypochondria would have to do with the fact that I loathe going to the doctor unless I'm dying, so I do the reverse and insist "It's not that bad!" when it really is.

Posted: 7/7/06 at 3:24amI got a 70, but I kind of already knew I had hypochondriatic tendencies. I'm not a hardcore hypochondriac - I only visit the doctor if I'm actually sick or when I have an appointment, and hypochondriacs typically make a lot of unnecessary visits - but I worry a lot more than is healthy. Over the tiniest things, too.

15.
The only one I check off was the ER one. And that wasn't totally my fault, I was in high school and it was my parents who made me go. Even though it turned out to be minor, the pain at the time was absolutely excruciating.
I never go to the doctor, like ever. I once had walking pneumonia for 8 months before my mom finally made me go into the doctor to get it taken care of. It's not that I mind going to the doctor, I just usually am too busy to take the time and I always write everything off as minor even though sometimes it isn't.
And right now I'm not even insured, so I haven't really had an option.

Why are you asking me if I'm a hypochondriac? Are you saying you think I'm imagining symptoms to diseases I don't have? Are you saying I'm mentally ill? Maybe I am mentally ill...
I don't know. But my fingers do hurt after having to type the word "Hypochondriac" too many times. I think I might have carpal tunnel now.

Posted: 7/9/06 at 11:28pmI got a 60, which I found to be suprisingly high. I don't think I worry about my health much more than the average person, but I suppose I worry about everything more than the average person, so it's reasonable.
