Can we start a fundraising committee for Addy:
"LONDON (Reuters) - The iconic black dress worn by Audrey Hepburn in the 1961 film "Breakfast at Tiffany's" will go on sale in December with an estimated price tag of 50-70,000 pounds ($90-130,000), Christie's auctioneers said on Wednesday.
The dress, designed by Givenchy and worn by Hepburn in the memorable opening scene of the classic romantic comedy, is being auctioned on behalf of the City of Joy Aid charity which helps underprivileged children in India."

Too bad we can't all chip in and buy it for NY adgal!
Eek! If only I could be rich. That will sell for a LOT of money. And that's great about the City of Joy Aid charity...for that, I HOPE it sells for a lot of money.

What a beautiful lady.
I think I'd be inclined to hold out for that fabulous hat she wore a little later.

As I recall, Hepburn moved to France when she got older, saying that American men treat older women badly but that the French knew how to appreciate women. Kind of a sad commentary on the U.S.
I think if you just had the pattern of the dress it would be enough as you could have a seamstress make up a new one.
*gasp!*
That dress belongs in the Smithsonian.

I always loved Funny Face the most. The clothes were so gorgeous.
Givenchy!
*sigh*

Can the dress be altered to fit a plus size?
Funny Face!
I adore how everyone also thought of Addy first.
We can chip in, buy it for her, and then she can donate it to the Smithsonian...

Addy, think pink!
Cookie, that is EXACTLY what I would do!
Think Pink!
Absolutely, blueroses!
I dunno what's more gorgeous:
Audrey? The dress? Or Audrey in the dress?
Weel, she can donate it to the Smithsonian AFTER she wears it to the next Standing Ovations!
Now there's an idea, PalJoey!
Fiction, I think it's the whole package... Audrey's beauty, her loveliness, the character of Miss Golightly, Givenchy's design... it's entirely perfect.
Opening scene...
I'll drink to that!
And Addy--let's add to that mixture, the writing of Truman Capote, the screenwriting of George Axelrod and the direction of Blake Edwards.
and the music of Henry Mancini...

She's actually wearing that dress off-center if you look at the shoulders carefully.
I wonder if that was artistically intended or happened just from moving around in the dress and carrying something in her hand. It's hard to believe it wasn't intentional, making her look kinda cute and funky.
Yes, I thought of Addy, too when I saw this. If I'm the lucky winner of Powerball this evening, that's the first thing I'll buy (on Addy's behalf). Then I'll donate it to the Smithsonian so everyone could enjoy it.
