Blizzard! What R U Doing?

I am very fortunate to be able to stay indoors, being retired, but please, everyone- BE CAREFUL! This storm is especially dangerous because the temp won't be going high enough to melt anything. Under the fluffy snow is pure ICE! On the roads, too - ICE. Please don't drive.

After hearing the news tonight, very glad I was not in the city today. One of the buses that I usually ride caught fire on route 80 in NJ. And on the same road about 14 miles down, a charter bus skidded off the road and went down an embankment. There were only 3 people on it and thankfully no life threatening injuries. Nobody was injured in the bus fire either.

So glad no one was hurt in those accidents. It's kinda scary out there. When I was on my way home from work I was just struggling to keep it between the ditches - forget about the lines. You couldn't even see the lines. I had someone in an SVU pass me on the right and scare me to death. Sorry I wasn't going fast enough for you on these wet, slippery roads.

Thanks, Jane, I'm always looking for new shops. I did the majority of my Christmas shopping on Etsy. I like helping the "little guy" so to speak.

Thank you.

My post was intended to comment on how poorly organized I found the city to be. And how concerned I was for the safety of people travelling.
But, it was a frustrating experience for me, personally, too. As everyone who was stuck with a difficult commute was frustrated. I don't believe I'm alone, but if that bothers you, then so be it.

I am getting ready to go to work in 9 degree weather! De Blasio is crazy keeping the schools open in this weather! The last storm was just a flurry in comparison and he closed the schools.

It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

Bundle up everyone and safe travels.

I added to my post. I was being a little facetious in my reply of 'thank you' to the poster who called out my comments in the post above.

I agree, it's still dangerous for people to travel this morning. I've been emailing my team at work telling them not to take any risks travelling to the office today.

I don't think it was wise to keep city schools open today, also.

Addy, they showed on the news here a NYC cab driving on the the sidewalk to get around a truck that was stuck. Glad you got home safely. Work is on a 2 hour delay today, but I was kind of looking forward to a day off.

My stiff, old boy is a puppy again in the snow, so I have been spending a fair amount of time watching him frolic with his other senior friends.

It's a scene out of canine 'Cocoon'--and it makes me so happy that I don't mind my frostbitten extremities...

The schools in my area were on a 2 hour delay today. I knew we weren't getting as much snow as other places. Will be interested to know how well the roads were plowed though. They did a poor job with the last storm. And Monday night they had not treated the roads and it started snowing enough that the back roads were getting covered.

Oh, and you have a really cute dog, Addison. Apparently my little dog went out with my mom earlier and she didn't want to go, so she sat down on the ground and wimpered. It was too cold for her.

The NYPost is trying really hard to smear di Blasio. Even implying that he was "punishing" the UES for not voting for him by not plowing sufficiently.

Some of my team members and *cough*superiors*cough* who live in the city have not made it in, but I was only 15 minutes late and I traveled from Jersey.

I had to work a little late last night, but my commute was nice and quiet. I do enjoy how snow absorbs sound!

I barely had to shovel this morning. I guess a lot of the snow just blew away?

This is only my second NY winter so I have very little perspective on anything. Those n00bs!

I got to work a little late but I made it. My street wasn't plowed as of this morning so I had to wait for a coworker to pick me up. And, the paperwork I needed did arrive so I had work to do. But, since we're not doing any shipping today odds are I'll be twiddling my thumbs tomorrow.

Is it spring yet?

That UES picture makes me hope these people never leave the city during the winter. If they want to see bad, they should go on the NY State Thruway when it is not plowed well or up into Rockland county.
