Four minutes. I lasted four minutes. The platypus bill thing that Calista Flockhart STILL does (and that Rachel Dratch used to do to perfection) looks positively revolting on a woman of a certain age with those teeny tiny smoker wrinkles.
So off it went for my Simpsons on DVR.

Posted: 9/24/06 at 11:07pmI have to disagree with you all. I think it has alot of promise! The ending was predictable, however, because they listed Tom Skeritt has a 'guest star'.... Sally Field is great.

Posted: 9/24/06 at 11:12pmI actually liked it a lot. Much better than six degrees. At least Brothers and Sisters established the characters somewhat. Where as on Six Degrees I constantly found myself wondering what the hell was going on.

I liked it a lot. Enough to keep me watching for now. I think it has great potential. Pilots rarely rise to the level of later episodes; especially network pilots as opposed to cable. Too much set-up and exposition. But, based on the premise, characters and cast, it looks like it could be a winner and one of the better shows of the new fall season. *** SPOILER *** Too bad Tom Skerritt’s character had to bite the dust so early on. I thought that he and Sally Field made a very believable couple. And then I remembered why I thought they seemed so natural together. They've done the husband-wife thing before in the film version of Steel Magnolias. I still would have liked to have seen his character continue to develop and hang around a little longer. Oh well... based on what I've seen so far, as of now, it's still one of my favorite new shows of the season.

Oh Lord--if that happens, I will click my remote so fast...
I doubt it though--he was only a guest star on the pilot. Hopefully it will stay that way.
The pilot WAS horribly predictable, but like I said, I will give it a chance--too good a cast and potential drama.

Hopefully they won't go that route. I'll be very disappointed if they do. Something tells me that they won't. And besides, Rachel Griffiths has already been there, done that with SIX FEET UNDER. I'm looking forward to more Patricia Wettig, though. And I like the political bent; the dynamic of the conservative vs. liberal family members. I think that, in and of itself, has the potential to take the show beyond the typical family drama fare while keeping it timely, controversial, and thought-provoking. Time will tell.

They need to beef up Sally Field's character. As it is written in the pilot, the character was not interesting. If she is going to be the Matriarch, they need to write stronger material for her. Right now, the material doesn't take her to places where we all know she can go as an actress. Given better material, she could take an Emmy.

I skipped the show only because I cannot get hooked on another show. I need to live my own live and not get caught up in these people's fake lives. I need to cap myself @ DH and Grey's Anatomy as way as weekly watching. Also, I'm still disappointed that Betty Buckley got fired.
Also, whenever I watch Sally Field melt-down I always feel like she's "doing" Sybil. I mean she always plays rage and hurt the same way. It doesn't move me. Anyone else feel that way?

Posted: 9/25/06 at 10:39amI fell asleep on my sofa as I was watching it. After seeing Sally Field in this, I can't picture Betty Buckley being a part of this at all.

Bad? Well, I saw the last 20 minutes and it seemed pretty interesting.
Every single film on Lifetime was about men killing women.
Anything is better than that!

I watched the entire thing and would probably have been bored out of my mind if I hadn't been watching with friends. Making fun of Calista Flockhart's facial expressions does wonders, I tell you what.
I'll probably tune in again next week because I love Sally Field THAT MUCH, but... ergh.
