Brothers & Sisters

Posted: 5/21/07 at 2:07pmIt's pretty wild his doing this part--Nouri has such a macho, straight guy image. Granted, he was a great sport in V/V. But still! We may well see him smooching another guy!!

I loved the finale-- the airport scene was lovely and well executed at least on that emotional level, oh boy, did I know how Nora felt, and Sally Field delivered. Personally, I dread that conversation more than any other -- I can't really imagine either of my sons enlisting, but then anything is possible.
I can't really imagine how the show or family would function without Justin, but neither can I see him not serving or having some odd reason for not going to Iraq....am interested to see how they work that out.
Very curious to see what Saul's storyline looks like next season -- I was always deeply puzzled by the Holly situation; so happy they ended that.
I can't see how the Kevin/Jason relationship will work out on any long term way without being it eventually being stupid that the siblings are dating/married whatever.
And lastly I will not settle for any less than David (Treat Williams) for Nora when she is ready for a real relationship. And frankly I respect Nora's accepting Holly and Rebbecca. There have been times during the season when I have thought she was passive aggressive or just trying to be pleasing; but over time I have come to truly believe it is from a place of genuine strength of character in Nora. Therefore she deserves a truly formible relationship who is totally and completely devoted to her, and her alone.

Next year, it will be up against Shark on Channel 2. Shark was head to head against ER & survived.
Looks like we will be taping it againt next season as they always schedule it against another show we watch

I agree it felt like just another episode. However, I love this show. At the beginning I thought it was boring yet I kept watching it because of four great actresses the show has: Sally Fields, Patricia Wettig, Rachel Griffiths (even if she still can't fully master her American accent, but love her accent either way), and Calista Flockhart. After a few episodes I became deeply enthralled with this family, the writers truly realized what to make of the show, they figured how to write for the actors, and let most of the bad actors go (i.e. Justin's girlfriend, though they're stuck with Tommy's wife, her name always escapes me, she's terrible).
I love the new Saul storyline, I mean even his relationship with Holly always felt more like a great friendship rather than a romance.
I suspect the new season will open three months later or so with Justin coming back from Iraq because he has been hurt or probably without them not having heard from him in a while. I hope Kevin finally has a functional relationship instead of being an idiot to all his love interests. I can't wait to see what happens when Rebecca tells Sarah the truth about THE kiss, love how they made Rebecca more sympathetic.
Can't wait for this show to come back, truly one of my favorites of the season.

Posted: 10/29/07 at 1:15amTonight's episode was really good. I am a little nervous as to why Sarah's ex wants full custodey of the children. There are signs pointing to not so nice things. But they may take it in another direction.

We taped, but haven't watched yet, tonight's show.
I'm addicted!
#85re: Brothers & Sisters
Posted: 10/29/07 at 8:27amI turned it off mid show because I really do not care about Sarah's story...I don't know why but I care about the rest of the siblings more and she was focused on for the episode.

I recently watched Season 1 on DVD. I must confess I loved it, and didn't want it to end.
Probably the best drama I've seen since thirtysomething, which is long overdue to DVD.

Oh no! Now you'll never see how Uncle Saul dies while hiding under his lover's bed!
Actually Sarah is my least favorite sibling too. She just grates on me. But you did miss some good stuff on Kittie and Tommy.

Posted: 10/29/07 at 9:17amLast night's was better than it had been this season. The past few episodes really suffered from terrible, cliche-ridden writing. I sort of feel like this show is on notice for me. If it doesn't, I think I'm going to ditch it. Desperate Housewives is terrible this year, too, so it would be very easy to just drop all my Sunday night shows altogether and just wait for the return of The Amazing Race.

Posted: 10/29/07 at 9:18amI actually have to go back and watch the first season. I got hooked with the "family album" episode thet did as a re-cap. I think they are setting Sarah's story up for a season finale. SOmething is going to happen with those kids, or one of them, and I think the step-sister is going to play a small part in it. At least they hinted at it with the music and the way they cut from one certain scene. But maybe they are trying to throw us off.

Calista Flockart was terrific last night, wasn't she? So was the young actress who plays Paige.
Good for Rebecca for seeing through Justin and calling him out on his bullsh-t excuse.
Hate Lena. Love Scotty.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this show, and it's the only show that I watch every week.
I'm enjoying all of the characters and storylines, but I'm getting very sick of the Justin/pills story line.

I thought last night's show was great...especially Kitty's storyline. I just felt so horrible for her.
I was disappointed in the simple resolution of the Sarah/Joe storyline. Since they'd set up Joe being such an ass in asking for custody, I wanted to see him take it further and blame Sarah for Paige's disapperance and fight to take even her visitations away.
I loved both Kitty and Justin's interactions with Paige last night. Thought they were adorable.
However, I don't like the Lena/Kevin storyline. I liked that we had one stable, traditional relationship on the show. But, I guess this makes for better TV!

*spoiler if you haven't seen tonight's episode*
So Saul finally came out.
Loved, loved tonight's show. Other that them being rich and owners of vineyards, there's so much I can relate to this show. The intervention went easier than I think it would go in real life, but it was great to see Sally Field's mother take a stand against Justin.

Posted: 11/12/07 at 9:17amI think the cast is pretty much top-notch across the board, but I just think the writing this season is abysmal. The dialogue is just so trite and cliched.

I said from the beginning of this season that (spoiler) Saul was gay (end spoiler)...they really should have made it more of a surprise...
Nonetheless, I LOVE this show. Last season, it began as a treacly, sentimental mess but I stuck by it (what else am I doing after DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES anyway?) and it just got better and better. This season is fantastic (not masterful by any means...there is WAY TOO MUCH fighting on some episodes) but the acting is very good and I thought last week's episode was one of the best I've seen on any show this season. Well-written, nicely fleshed out story lines, etc. It's a great show.
