I got my first headshots back today!!!!
I finally has some professional headshots taken last week, and they arrived today! I am LEAST photogenic perosn in the world, and VERY critical of myself, but I must say, I was very pleased.
Also, does anyone else here do NATS? I have a few in the next couple months, one here in Boston and then one in New Hampshire a month later. I'm getting all pumped up choosing my repetoire and everything.
Weee, I think I'm on some sort of high to day or something!

Posted: 1/9/07 at 9:06pmWhat's NATS? I'm so ignorant about classical music!

National Association of Teachers who teach Singing (kind of redundant).
A lot of teachers belong to this organization because besides the benfits, they offer a lot of competitions for students, and usually there are competitions for Classical/Opera and also ones for Musical Theatre.

Posted: 1/13/07 at 10:58pmNo, sorry. So i don't know if anyone has been to a competition like CMEA (Colorado Music Education Assosiation), but i'm going Thursday and i am excited. (though oddly enough i'm singing tenor, not soprano). I love huge church-style pieces. we're singing Felix Mendelssohn's Lobegesang and i am in love with it! Does anyone else do crazy huge things like that?

I's and Superiors are the best scores that you can get at, well competitive events for instruments, voice, and choirs.
Usually are sponsored by the state, and include Festival, Solo and Ensemble, atleast that's what they are called in my state.

I live by the Michigan/Indiana Border, usually I just say I'm from South Bend, (Notre Dame).
And, as long as you don't plan on raping/kidnapping/stalking/murdering me, we're good. :)

Posted: 1/28/07 at 11:51amToday I'm off to see the semi-finals at Jordan Hall for the Met Auditions. This is the last stop before the 6 (I believe) finalists go off to the Met for the finals. it should be very interesting!

Oh no, I'm not IN it, I'm just watching!!
I take classes at NEC where the competition was held, so I went with some of my classmates to Jordan Hall for half the price.
These were all people in their mid-late twenties, so it's something to aspire to.

I'm in an Opera Workshop this semester, and my professor just cast us in scenes that we will be performing for the Final Showcase.
I am playing Mercedes from Carmen in Toreador Song & Melons! Coupons!
And I'm also Adele from Die Fladermaus in the Act II Finale.
Plus, I'm in the chorus for Habanera from Carmen and Libiamo ne'lieti [Drinking Song] from La Traviata.
I'm so excited, it's gonna be awesome.
