It's Pi Day! Oh sure, it's about Math, but could you blame me for focusing on the food?

Morning peeps! Happy Friday! Moony we expect nothing less from you.
YOU, I cannot believe what I read "I am ashamed to admit that I have not seen JCS." I see in your future a package arriving that contains the JCS Arena Tour. My favorite recording of this show.
Moony I thought of you this morning.
YWIW, get a recording of the original album. So many interesting musical styles. So original.
Hope everyone has nice weekend plans.
Mornin'
So, framily theater outing to NJ in June?
Bless me father, for I have sinned. I have never seen a production of any kind of JCS. I couldn't name a single song. It's just not my kind of show or music. I was more of a Godspell-er back then.
Me three...
I've never seen the full production, just parts. But my lacking shouldn't be a surprise to anyone at this point.
Morning! Happy Friday!
New Glasses are on order, and looks like Mr Happy's finally starting to feel better. Boss is on vacation today and monday so hopefully it will be a very low key day.
How ya feelin, Moony?

Ted Neeley in one of his rounds around the world at the State Theatre.
I remember sitting in the movie theater, leaning over to my cousin and saying something like it probably being a sin to be having the thoughts about Jesus I was having at the time.
And I can remember belting out I Don't Know How To Love Him in my living room as I played it over and over again.
Surprised my parents didn't have me analyzed at that point.

I'm surprised your parents didn't have you analyzed at birth bwhahahahahaha
It would be so nice if you could all make a trip to NJ in June. You'll all get to see my cute little Stone church too being we perform the shows there. BTW I was not a huge JCS fan when it first came out. I liked some of the songs mainly "I don't know how to love him" and King Herod's song" until I took my sons to see the revival on Broadway in 2000 That's when I fell in love with the show and all the music. I took them back to Broadway to see the next Revival in 2012. Their favorite remains to be the 2000 production. My is the Stadium Tour.
I was fascinated by the 'rock opera' when it first came out, sight unseen. I loved listening to the record album, and reading the libretto. Over and over and over again. It was so unlike anything I'd ever heard. It then became a piece that we would perform parts of at school and church gatherings.
I was totally a Godspell-er. 100%, completely. In fact, I still am. The original cast recording is one I keep in my car and listen to quite frequently.
A trip in June would be wonderful.
It's a really cool looking church!!

I am glad I am not alone - I actually know a couple of songs from the show, just not the entire material.
And Addy - are you talking original London cast recording, or BW? There are a whole bunch of options.
I also have never seen Godspell.
I think it has something with being Jewish and not being too comfortable around Christian themed music as a kid - after being told a few too many times that you killed Jesus(once, but my best friend), you kind of shy away from those themes.
YOU I don't think you're old enough to have killed Jesus. Moony on the other hand *grabs cake and runs*

And, by the way, Jesus was a good Jew and he was killed by the Roman authorities.
It's always the Italians fault!
Oh Moony, I know - but I can vividly remember being in fourth grade having a sleepover at my best friends house and she asking my why the Jews killed Jesus...
But you know, we do run the world, and have hidden horns (on a bad day, the horns one may be true).
Who killed Jesus?
Pontius Pilate, with cooperation from some Jewish leaders in Jerusalem, killed Jesus. What killed Jesus? On the historical level one can point to the sinful social structures of first-century Palestine and the spiral of violence that led Pilate to view Jesus as a dangerous Jewish rebel. On the theological level one can say that Jesus' death on the cross was the result of human sinfulness.
Why did Jesus die? The New Testament writers give several theological responses. Jesus died in accord with the Scriptures as the expression of God's will (Matthew). Jesus died a sacrificial death for us and for our sins (Mark, Paul, and Hebrews). Jesus in his death gave us an example of fidelity in suffering (Luke). Jesus' death was part of his revelation of God and of his glorious return to the Father (John), and the pledge of his second coming (Revelation).
