I needed the warning. Sometimes our animals look at us, and they need us, too. Maybe Keppie needed me sometimes, I don't know. I just wish I could hold him and scratch behind his ears and have him look at me with that love in his eyes. Because I don't see it enough in people. I need more of that in people.

Of course he needed you, darling, and you gave it to him.

There is NO POINT in questioning what you did or did not do with him - it was unconditional is his eyes, and you need to accept that HE accepted it on that level.

Your bond is the testimony to what his life meant - for him and for you. Hold it in your heart, cherish it, and accept that YOU got to experience the thrill of unvarnished love.

That's what counts - for you, and for him.

I hope to see that kind of love one day again. I see it in some people I see sometimes (you people know who you are!) , but I want it everyday. I do hope that's not too selfish of me.

Saw your facebook update and knew you'd probably post in here. I don't visit this thread often but I'm making a special trip in to give you virtual hugs. I have had the pleasure of seeing that look on Keppie's face as you scratched him behind the ears and there is NO doubt the love was mutual. He was sooo sweet. I'm glad he didn't suffer and MAJOR BONUS points for mom!! I'm impressed! Hang in there... do something nice for yourself in his memory and know that time heals :) xo
