Oh yes they are.

We eat them when they are green, chopped and cooked with beef and other spices. (picadillo de platano)

When they are ripe we have the usual fried plantains. (platanos maduros)

And Yuca!!! Ok, I want to go home right now.

Patacones! I can't believe I forgot what they were called. My mom makes excellent patacones, btw.

Humitas: chilean type of tamal. We make our tamales different than mexico... we wrap them in banana leaves instead of corn husks, which gives them a very different flavor.

I hate when I miss getting twirled by DD!

Going to The Wedding Singer this afternoon. Haven't read the reviews, though I did notice a few BWW Headlines yesterday. I'll read them tonight.

Rath, have a great time today!

Happy weekend everyone!

Have fun at Wedding Singer, girly! After all I've heard, I would really like to see it again and compare to the show I saw in Seattle.

Girly,

Can't wait to hear all about the Wedding Singer.

And, I am sorely missing NYC today...it's been a month. I am so built for being there.

I miss the chance to spend time with you guys, too. My visit was too too brief. Next time, long talks over good food, right? And then a show or several. And, of course, tracking down Mister Wilson. A full-scale invasion.

The Wedding Singer was fun. I thought Act 1 was a bit too draggy, but overall a fun show. I have to admit my eyes followed Kevin Cahoon for 99% of the show. It might have been the Boy George wig, but he was very good. Sometimes I kept hearing him as the childcatcher from Chitty. Chillldrennn. Oh, chillldrenn.

I thought it was funny that there was a former Radames, Amneris and Mereb from AIDA all in the show. I saw each of them play those roles, too.

OH! At the end of the show, at curtain call Stephen who plays Robbie, quieted us down and asked to please sit. Then he asked where was Mr. ______? A man stood up. Stephen invited him up on stage. The man took his girlfriend's hand and the two of them went up. Stephen handed the guy a mike. The man pulled a piece of paper out of his pocket read something similar to when you find someone, and you know their the one, you don't let them go. I don't remember exactly. Then he pulled a little box out of his pocket, got down on his knee and proposed. She cried and said yes and he slipped the ring on her finger. We all cheered them on. Laura who plays Julia handed her the bouquet. Cute story to tell their kids someday.

Goodmorning this Sunday a.m. - Kind of quiet around here over the weekend. Sounds like a fun night at the theater Girly. I also enjoyed Wedding Singer and thought about the childcatcher relationship. Today luckily I don't have much to do but I do have tickets to go the University of Michigan's Senior Showcase review tonight. It will be interesting to see what talents show up on Broadway the next few years. Their productions tend to be very good. Also have to try to install a new printer.

Bdwaygirl...what a neat addition to the curtain call. I wonder how the guy was able to arrange that?

And, Miami Vice marathon??? Must check it out. I was a sucker for Don Johnson for a wee bit...

Good morning all. Hope everybody had the chance to enjoy the weekend. Well 43 is not that bad so far. RoadCase and I saw "Lt. of Inishmome" (Had too good a time there, just love a good , dark Irish "comedy") "Festen", another deep and dark show. Never have I left a theater feeling I really need a shower. Sat. evening was all sugary with "Barefoot in the Park" (just for beacon sake and the fact we got 6th row tickets that morning for cheap!)
After the coffee kicks in and some laundry gets started I'll put an entry into my blog.
Happy Monday all, help yourself to the coffee.
