Moonie...LOL I can SOOOOO identify.
I was admitted late on a Friday night and put on an IV plus had tubes in my nose for oxygen (IV for nourishment so my pancreas would calm down, oxygen because I had a wierd level in my system...)
Monday began the payroll reporting week. Since my boss had never handled it (he's my fifth in 11 years...) I was in my hospital bed on the phone to Headquarters in Salt Lake City talking to the HR dept so they could talk him through things.
Then I called boss to give him an outline for the week of the things which HAD to happen. He kept saying things would be fine--but then later I'd get a call...
It drove me nuts not to be there to handle things myself (and to know I'd find such a mess on my return!)

Oh yeah. It was gallstones. Common situation. The gall bladder was trying to pass some stones and since it's right by the pancreas, that organ becomes agitated with the bile being forced around and it becomes inflammed. Pancreatitis can flare up again even if the gall bladder has been removed. I think that may have been why I was so sick during a business trip in mid-April. Wanted to die and still had a 4.5 ride in a passenger pan then and 1.5 hr drive home ahead of me. My boss and the Region Managers were very concerned and kind to me. A few thought I was destined for the hospital but I made it!
Thank goodness it didn't happen the week I visited NYC! How terribly disappointing that would have been--and Mister Wilson would have been in consolable, I'm sure. :o)
