Well, the deed is done. The room was emptied, the keys were turned in - and a few tears were shed on the drive away. A long cycle that began 37 years ago, when he decided what he wanted to have for a career, has been completed. He worked with dedication and honor, and now gets to go do what he really wants - now that he's truly 'grown up'.
I am so very proud of his accomplishment, and humbly honored to share in this great transition in his life. He and I are blessed, and look forward to the continuation of dream realization.
And the Wizard was right - the Tin Man DID have a heart all along.
Hugs to you and him, DG!
Take pride in the past. Look forward to all the great things to come!

What a lovely thought, DG. Thank you for sharing that.
He is lucky to have a new career to step right into. A whole new world to enjoy. I wish him many more years of success.

Thanks - it really hit him just how much of his life had been given to this endeavor - and how it really is over now. Relief, pride, anticipation and fear of the unknown are a heady emotional brew.
So I've made him go take a nap
Besides, he has to be rested for his HAMLET rehearsal this evening!

Okay! So the review went GREAT! Much better than I had even expected...and I did not get emotional! (yay!) I was even told that the executive team has recognized my potential here and wants to "encourage my growth within the company". How cool is that? I am very giddy myself here. So it looks like I will be continuing to split my time between facilities and administration for the next six months, and then become full time facilities manager. And what is even more astonishing to me...my manager looked me in the eye and asked "Are you happy?". I have never been asked that from a manager in my life. Probably because they were afraid of the answer.

Hi. Just got home. LONG day.
Why aren't you all watching Piazza?
Addy sit back, put your feet up and turn Piazza on.
