I'd be very afraid of any wishes he would grant.

I'll be happy to join you, Mom.
And it's the fairy's cigar in his wand hand that kills me!
Now that I drink tea, I'll be glad to join you too!
Hey I think that's my cousin junior.

As long as it's not an aunt.......
I must be punching - I just referenced a posting from this thread in another thread and it made no sense.

I've done that before, Moony - but then I realized that probably half of what I say on here makes no sense, so it wouldn't make any difference!
I got it, moonie.

Good, DD, since I was referring to your post.
Thanks, DG, I know I'm in good company.
BTW, DG........I LOVE your post there this morning.

I'm missing Addy - hope she having a fine retreat to the woods.
And Moony, you KNOW how subtle I like to be
Tea for two
And two for tea...

Delish. I'm nibbling on Raisin Bran.
Cookie, you just reminded me of Lady Mendel's at Sutton Place. When I lived in NYC, a group of us would meet up twice a year and have tea there. It was especially wonderful at Christmas time.
Lady Mendl's has such a wonderful Victorian tea room atmosphere! I do believe it's down by Irving Place now, though... There are several places that do wonderful afternoon teas in the city...
You're right, Irving Place, not Sutton. I always get those two mixed up. I haven't been there since I left NYC (which happened to be exactly 6 years ago yesterday).

We enjoyed the tea you mentioned last year at the Mandarin Oriental - mostly for it's VIEW! This year, I want to try and find something more traditional - maybe this Lady Mendl's is the ticket.
Oh, you cannot beat the MO for the view, given it's location! But the tea there is certainly enjoyable... As it must be at the Ritz, which is definitely more traditional there. But Lady Mendl's is a treat. And an aspect of shabby-chic tea!
Though memories of afternoon tea will always transport me back across the pond to the Thayer Foyer at the Savoy in London...
as long as we get you back for visits, Dottie!

Cookie - what was the place that you said had a shop next to it to buy the things served at the tea?
Cookie, of course you'll get me back for visits. Thanks for posting the pictures of Lady Mendel's. Ah, the memories.
I think it was Tea and Sympathy, DG. They do sell their scones and their clotted cream (and I believe their raspberry preserves) in the shop next to the dining room. And they also sell lots of British goods that are usually not found in a regular supermarket, for all the Brit ex-pats in the city (Heinz's Brown Sauce, anyone?)...
