Two 80s movies with some of the biggest soundtracks of all-time remade. Just ridiculous. Focus on In the Heights!!

I guess that in the remake, the Patrick Swayze part will be played by some flavour-du-jour chick whose agent cant get her into a Bond film. She'll be, of course, totally smoking hot, except she cant act her way out of a paper bag.

"Baby", in this version, will be played by someone like Justin Bieber as a nerdy little innocent who realizes he's actually a sexual powerhouse when put in the right hands (see paragraph above).

The film will relocate the action to Southern California, because the family this time wil be on an extended trip to Disneyworld, and Baby escapes to Venice Beach with the rest of the Disnay mascots, who are, of course, totally smoking hot when they take off the costumes.

God, I can totally see it now.

Last I heard, In the Heights is dead in the water.

Really can't believe they are doing this. It's just not right.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I know it was just the same premise, but we already got the horrible Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights. Doesn't anyone remember that?

Yep, Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights sorta had the same premise of girl meets a boy, parents do not approve of her being with him and doing Latin Ballroom. But it was set in late 1950s Cuba with the budding revolution in the background, meaning it weirdly predated the events in the original.

Yeah, I heard that ITH is DOA. It makes me sad that they will remake Dirty Dancing, but In The Heights can't get off the ground.

Shame about ITH.

With this Dirty Dancing, I can just imagine them using the Black Eyed Peas' remix of "Time of Your Life" in the finale where everybody is happy, dropping the abortion sub-plot entirely, more grinding and no sexuality in the dances, and have to pay somebody from the original (maybe Jennifer Grey or... just somebody else) to be in it as if to give it a nod that this is just not sucking your money out of your wallet. I mean, even Swayze had a cameo in Havana Nights.

I see no reason to remake it, but it's fun to imagine. I'd hope t hat maybe this time the songs that they write for the movie actually sound like they are of that era. I ain't hating on Dirty Dancing, though. I was obsessed with it when it came out.

Also, Jennifer Grey should play the sexy guest lady who sleeps who pays the young boys to do her. Or maybe Kelly Bishop (who was originally supposed to play that part until she was moved into the role of the mother). Or maybe they could be a mother/daughter pair of cougars in this version. Come on! This could be epic.

Article on Yahoo says Jennifer Grey supports it and Carrie Ann Inaba thinks Derek Hough and Lea Michele would be perfect. Of course her name is gonna be tossed around. When do the commercials and performances start happening of her singing songs from the movie soundtrack?

The moment she does a duet of "Love is Strange" or "Be My Baby" on Glee or starts carrying a watermelon at some point on the show, it will be obvious that she is servicing herself for the remake.
