Okay.
I would say something about Goth but he would just start sobbing and demand my post be deleted like he's already done twice in this thread.
Poor sad little baby.
How did the electric antique cars suddenly become "stupid"?
Well, this was certainly entertaining to read more of. I'm not sure what is meant by electric car either, so I'll wait and see. But, the complaints about people being put out of work is sort of absurd. Especially since it sounds like people will work with the carriage drivers to get them doing something similar. It's up to those people to decide if they want to do it or not.
And am I mistaken, but I thought there were roads already for cars to go through the park. What's not bad about those that already exist?
I love the "well, the horses were bred to do this" argument. Yeah, and there are dogs that are bred specifically to fight each other to the death. It doesn't mean either is humane or the right thing to do.

I feel bad for the super-noisy electric cars that were built specifically for this job. If the walkers and joggers and other non-sitters prevent them from doing what they were built to do they're just going to end up by themselves on some planet watching Hello, Dolly on VHS.
I hear those stupid cars are going to be put to sleep.

As a final insult, they will be stuffed in bags and attached to the exhaust pipes of diesel trucks.
I wish the new mayor had announced new living and working conditions for the horses and confined their routes to Central Park. And then used the new rules as a teaching moment for the entire nation as to the care and treatment of large animals.
PalJoey, I think this is the wisest comment in the thread. I say that despite the fact that you recently stated that you despise me, which I deeply resents.

This thread is off the chain.

This was the proposed design. I'm not sure how loud "vintage" electric cars are.

They have the same dB level as the finale of a fireworks spectacular. They would really frighten the horses, so it's a good thing they'll all be gone.
They must be wildly difficult to control. Look at all those wheel blocks restraining them!!!
The dog I don't have is freaking out.
boy, when those things come rattling noisily down the road, watch out for the onslaught of frightened dogs running for their lives. With their paws covering their ears!
I have a dog and pretty much live in Times Square, so I can tell you that dogs in this city are terrified of cars. It's not like they're used to them or anything so even the slightest noise makes a NYC dog just shlt itself.
Well then, watch where you're walking in the park!
I'd never take my dog to the park! It might see a car!!!!!

Antique cars don't have lights, right? So make sure you only wear light colored clothing in the park after dark.
My Boy Pom Dash has been trying to take down those damn carraige horses for 9 years! How dare their butt holes be so far above sniffing distance?

And where will all those carriage horses go? The knackers.
Those of you who are suggesting rescue/retirement for these horses: have you seen the number of horses that are euthanized every year because they cannot be maintained? Unless you know some lottery winner who wants to establish and fund such an establishment, don't believe for a moment that these horses are going to be happier and healthier. If ending their misery with a bullet is your idea of a solution, go ahead.
And horses die of heart failure on farms, too -

Whenever the idea that the horses should continue to be abused or they will be put down is floated, I think of this classic National Lampoon cover.
I fully support the horse-drawn carriage ban. With obesity on the rise, forget the horses and the cars-let people walk.
