Edvard Munch

You in NYC are all SO damn lucky to have this exhibit at MOMA. I just at 7:30AM saw a program on it on TV.......what an amazing exhibit, and what a complicated life he had.

I was lucky enough to see one of then Screams at the ROM in Toronto long ago....I was amazed how small it was.

It's his other works I really like.......wish I could see this.

Did you see the original Scream painting? Or one of Munch's lithographs of the Scream? The original painting (as you probably know) has been stolen, but at MOMA, I saw his lithographs.

Frankly, I enjoyed his other works better. He is such a dark artist; fascinated by pain, death and sickness. Creepy. But oh so talented.

I can't believe he opted for surgery on his hand, and didn't want anesthesia! So he could feel the pain.

there are two original screams. I saw one, as this was long before the Norway heist. If I recall it was one of the painting and one of the lithographs being exhibited, but it was also 16 years ago.....so may have just been the painting.

man, did religiona dn his father screw him up......

My favourite painting of Munch and one of my favourite paintings in general.
I don't really know what attracts me but I just love it!

I find it more "sad and alone" than serene......albeit beautiful

the color palette is so much brighter than Munch's other paintings...being lonely doesn't always mean being sad.

I dunno. It still reflects serenity to me :)

It was really cool, Elphie...greg is a MOMA member so we went opening night--never pass up a free drink, plus the crowd-watching is a riot.

Munch's VAMPIRE (the one at The Met) is one of my favourite paintings. I visit her often.

Saw this exhibit. What a talent

"All I ask of you is one thing: please don't be cynical. I hate cynicism -- it's my least favorite quality and it doesn't lead anywhere. Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get. But if you work really hard and you're kind, amazing things will happen." Conan O'Brien

I saw one of the original "Scream" paintings in Oslo, along with several of his other works.

An amazing, emotional artist.
