I think it was snubbed the way that 5 seasons of Fringe was snubbed. Those actors have to play a multitude of characters and they do them magnificently but it's sci-fi so ewwww!

Why do the Emmys keep snubbing 'Parks and Recreation' and Nick Offerman!? Also, I think Will Forte is a great actor and comedian, but I did not like his character on '30 Rock' at all. There are plenty of other actors I have seen on comedies who deserved a nomination for Best Guest Actor over him.

I also thought the Emmy was Jeff Perry's to lose. Having said that, there is an abundance of outstanding work, including those who were nominated (at least the ones I'm familiar with).
When is a snub not a snub? Perhaps when it's simply a matter of being passed over in a sea of riches.

THRILLED for Tony Hale and Anna Chlumsky of VEEP, both of whom are wonderful parts of that fabulous company! I'd love to see Hale take that prize, honoring both his work on VEEP and ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT this year.

It is important to pay attention to precursors from SAG to the CCAs and other TV awards, although the CCAs were weird this year with no nominations for Jon Hamm and Maslany winning Best Actress. Those are really the main factors in the Gold Derby playing by odds website.
"There are plenty of other actors I have seen on comedies who deserved a nomination for Best Guest Actor over him."
Why pick on Will Forte who got his first nomination in anything? Nathan Lane's work on The Good Wife is much better than his Modern Family work. And the only person I really was rooting for in a guest-spot was David Lynch for Louie.

I'm disappointed Freddie Highmore (Bates Motel) wasn't nominated.

I'm disappointed about the Monica Potter snub. She was excellent this past season of Parenthood, but as usual that awesome show/ensemble gets the shaft.
But how cool that husband and wife Jim Carter (Downton Abbey) and Imelda Staunton (The Girl) are both nominated this year?

I just really did not like how the character was written. And I agree with this writer from TV Fanatic after a while Jenna, "having a boyfriend that dresses up like her and does strange sexual things with her is just weird and gross".

Also, Will Arnett's portrayal of Devon Banks is MUCH MORE FUNNIER. He deserved a nomination more than Forte.

Happy to see all of the noms for American Horror Story, but it's miscatagorized as a Mini-Series. Unless it wins...then I'm OK with it.

Two more disappointing snubs for 'Parks & Recreation' are Outstanding Female Guest Appearances on a Comedy for Megan Mullally and Lucy Lawless. They were absolutely terrific on the show this season.

I'm happy about Jonathan Banks, Vera Farmiga, Kerry Washington, Jessica Lange, Saura Paulson, Zachary Quinto (his first major nomination), Mandy Patinkiin, and Margo Martindale.
Really wish Tatiana Maslany had been nominated, but I knew it wasn't going to happen. Emmy Awards usually suck when it comes to genre shows like Fringe and Buffy. Yet they seem to love American Horror Story, Game of Thrones, and Farmiga got a nomination for Bates Motel. So go figure.
I can't believe none of the Arrested Development actors got into supporting. I thought David Cross and Will Arnett were the best comedic actors of the year in their various episodes.
Kind of surprised Emilia Clarke got into Supporting. If it was going to be someone from Game of Thrones, kind of think it should have been Michelle Fairley, but that's just nitpicking. Kind of astonished Monica Potter didn't get a nomination in this category, as she was outstanding and had some buzz early on. Not that any of this matters, since it will obviously go to Maggie Smith.

No SMASH!
I'm thrilled for Candelabra, the Oscars and the Tonys. The Tonys were spectacular but the Oscars had Barbra Streisand, Jennifer Hudson, Adele and Dame Shirley Bassey in the same broadcast, so I'll go with that one.

Adam Driver has done some of the most outstanding television work I've ever seen, so it was great to read of his nom.
Merritt Weaver continues to give one of the best and most true to life performances on television. Her chances of winning are slim to none but it's great for her to be recognized.
Downton Abbey - meh - I'm a huge fan but I thought this past season the weakest of them all. If anyone deserved a leading actress nom from that show it's Elizabeth McGovern. Her little monologue at Sybil's deathbed about how they would look after the baby and Tom ripped my heart out. Maggie Smith and Jim Carter are just delightful so good for them!
I can't even...when will Vincent Kartheiser, Nick Offerman, and Parks and Recreation get some Emmy light?! Two of the greatest and most well-rounded characters in TV history are found in Peter Campbell and Ron Swanson, while Parks and Rec is the best ensemble in a dog's age.
Happy to see Christina Hendricks nominated...again, although Joan had little to do this last season.
Congrats to double nominee Elisabeth Moss - Peggy was brilliant this season and even though her competition is tough, Moss may have a shot.
Jane Krakowski and Stritch getting 30 Rock noms always make me happy!
I don't watch that much TV, but I love when performances that have stuck with me are remembered come awards season.

Also glad that Carrie Preston got a nomination as the wonderful Elsbeth Tascioni. I guess I just assumed she had been nominated before, since The Good Wife gets so many Guest Actor/Actress nominations.

At least pick from an article that discusses his role this season. Picking a random article from 2010 gives me the impression you did not watch the following episodes of that character, such as the episode he appeared in, "My Whole Life is Thunder". And if you and the reviewer cannot just see that the character whose existence reflects another character's well-established narcissist streak then I guess his character goes over your head. Jenna married her impersonator. It's a completely in-character moment.
"Also, Will Arnett's portrayal of Devon Banks is MUCH MORE FUNNIER. He deserved a nomination more than Forte."
He was in this season's "Game Over" but the guest-star who walked away with that episode was Octavia Spencer.

I guess SMASH is going to be cancelled now. I thought if it could hang on until the Emmys and Megan got her Emmy then it would be back.

The Emmy's are at a point now where they need to start doubling up and making the categories - "Best (Insert Category Here) Network" and "Best (Insert Category Here) Cable" because we have a hundred networks with original programing all competing for slots that only a couple years ago were split between 4 or 5 networks.

AHS is rightfully a mini series. Yes, it is a show that comes back every year but it is a stand alone story wrapping up over the course of one season. That is why it is in the category.

WR, I'm completely with you on Tatiana Maslany. She's really the only outside-chance nomination I was really rooting for; her work on that show is unparalleled. Thankfully, the attention that her performance got the show this year really raised her (and its) profile.
But I'm not really upset about any of my personal disappointments, because what these nominations underscore for me is just how much good TV is on right now. There can be shows I'd rather see here or there (PARKS AND REC, THE AMERICANS, NEW GIRL, etc) and shows I don't personally watch or care for that get love, but that's not my beef. I just choose to make it all that more impressive that the ones I do care about made the cut. It's pretty much tough fields, all across the board.
Also, since no one has pointed this out yet, I believe Louis C.K. personally scored 9 nominations this year. That has to be record in one year, right?

Words don't deserve that kind of malarkey. They're innocent, neutral, precise, standing for this, describing that, meaning the other, so if you look after them you can build bridges across incomprehension and chaos. But when they get their corners knocked off, they're no good anymore…I don't think writers are sacred, but words are. They deserve respect. If you get the right ones in the right order, you can nudge the world a little.
