Looks like he only missed out on Editing for a Comedy Series, which his co-editor Susan E. Morse picked up and should win for the brilliant "Daddy's Girlfriend (Part 2)"
That's gonna be a hard record to ever beat.
Tatiana is absolutely mesmerizing on ORPHAN. She plays like half a dozen characters, and each of them are so clearly delineated and defined that you completely and totally believe they are separate people with separate lives. I know she won some sort of Critics Award a couple of months ago and I was hoping she'd sneak in to the category. In fact, ORPHAN had a stronger year than many of the shows they nominated for Best Drama Series. Would've been nice to see them recognize it.
Also, looking over the list again, Morena Baccarin's performance is Emmy nomination-worthy? I mean, really? I love HOMELAND, but any time she's in a scene with Danes or Lewis, she basically fades into the scenery.
I'm happy to see Adam Driver get recognized for his work on GIRLS. I hope either Jesse Tyler Ferguson or Ed O'Neill take it though. And I'm hoping this is Sofia Vergara's year as well!!
WICKED my fave about Tatiana is when she plays a clone playing another clone. you can totally see the personality of each clone when she does that!!
I also think Kate Mara is fab.
I disagree re Morena Baccarin, I think she does beautiful work, always holding her own and keeping the show grounded when everyone around her is so large. I couldn't be happier her and Patinkin got recognized for their outstanding performances.
I honestly cannot argue with these, sure there is a slew of people I'd have loved to see (Corey Stoll, Jessica Walter) but each list is so strong and it just reveals how strong the TV landscape is nowadays--much stronger and interesting than the list the Oscars come up with sometimes. I do roll my eyes a little every time DOWNTON ABBEY gets a nomination, it's just so expected as a show and it can't rival the brilliant revolutionary TV that shows like MAD MEN, BREAKING BAD, GAME OF THRONES, etc are creating.
The one nod I couldn't be happier about is Jane Krakowski's, she was MVP of the last season of 30 ROCK, IMO, and I actually thought Will Forte deserved that nod.
Have to wonder if any of these awards bodies will EVER give Parks and Rec its due, especially Nick Offerman.
And I was surprised Hannibal was totally snubbed, especially in the technical categories- it is a beautifully made and designed show.
Kad, I don't even know if they are watching PARKS & RECREATIONS, it's almost like they are just nominating Poehler without watching the show, because otherwise I don't understand how Nick Offerman, Chris Pratt and Aubrey Plaza keep getting snubbed. Also, there is just no way in hell that this season of MODERN FAMILY was anywhere near the quality and smarts of P&R.
I really love that Soderbergh's 2 pseudonyms, Cinematographer Peter Andrews and Editor Mary Ann Barnard, got Emmy nominations for Behind the Candelabra. What if either wins? Suddenly, I am invested in the Creative Arts Emmys.
Orphan Black is too genre to ever get any recognition, IMHO. The Emmys can't avoid Game of Thrones, but otherwise they pretty much ignore anything like that.
It's ridiculous that Sarah Paulson is up for supporting actress--she was even more the lead than Lange. And Morse for guest actor--he's been a regular on Mad Men for all but one season IIRC.

I am also puzzled and disappointed that HANNIBAL was not recognized at all but I have to admit that the Benedict Cumberbatch nom made me so happy, I didn't pay much attention after that.
Yeah I'm glad some kinda overlooked shows like Top of the Lake, Parade's End and even Political Animals were nominated. But The Bible?? Really?

I disagree as well. If art does indeed imitate life she's extremely convincing in that role. Her character's marriage was stolen from her only to be reconstituted when she was least prepared. Her role as wife of the antagonist and mother of his kids is pivotal given the nature of his horrendous acts and his complex love affair with Carrie.
Morena has consistently delivered the goods each season in what could have been a thankless 3rd wheel of a job. What Nick has asked of Jess is unconscionable to all the women I know who've shared their thoughts on the series. The stolen moments with Mike were so precious and a few of her squabbles with Nick and her daughter were gut wrenching.
Hmm, interesting to hear other on Baccarin. I don't think she's a bad actress, but I'm skeptical as to whether or not she deserved the nomination. Regardless, I can't wait to see where HOMELAND goes this season.
Team VEEP, always.

I'm surprised that Reid Ewing never gets recognized for his work as Dylan of 'Modern Family'. He is hilarious. I also enjoyed James Marsden as Criss on '30 Rock'.
Thrilled for Vera Farmiga
Some of the categories (major ones) look the same each year, God forbid you are a new show, you are mostly screwed
And how many times can they ignore the fantastic Sons of Anarchy?
I am starting to believe it is because FX itself as a network just has not yet got a real breakthrough in nominations (AHS cannot count because they used their anthology status and took advantage of the weakened TV movie/mini-series category) in either comedy or drama.
That and Kurt Sutter, SOA show-runner, is something of a nut. Some show-runners can get away with their svengali attitudes and compulsions, Matthew Weiner comes to mind (although some who pay attention to the awards think the show, particularly its writer's room, are getting punished for his obsessive privacy and statements regarding TV critics of Season 6), but Sutter's populist, biker persona probably could never really work with Emmy voters.
FX has had both drama (DAMAGES) and comedy (LOUIE) nominations...
But in relative terms against Showtime or HBO or even AMC, FX has not really had a show that has the sizable fan-base that gets a boatload of nods (Damages was relegated to DirecTV by FX and Louie is still more of a critical darling as opposed to the shows more closely associated with the network, like SOA, It's Always Sunny..., or even Archer). When news of Louis CK getting 9 nominations is one of the takeaways, it has nil to do with Louis CK being on the FX network and more about how he is one of the biggest comedians happening.
DAMAGES was relegated to DirecTV because of its ratings, not its inability to get nods (or wins, both of which it did.) LOUIE's ratings are also cult-sized but it stays on FX because of the unique financials that allow him to run essentially a one-man show in exchange for receiving far less money than typical programming.
And however you feel about FX, SoA has had its time, even got a Katey Sagal nod for season 3, but at a certain point when Emmy doesn't let you in the club, you aren't getting in the club. THE AMERICANS was FX's shiny new prize this year, and that got shut out of the new kids' club by HOUSE OF CARDS (I'd argue unfortunately so, personally).
