I just want to thank you for sharing all the updates and stories over the last year or so. It has truly touched me. And then when you posted that picture yesterday I actually cried a little. Your love and respect for your father is a tribute to how he made the world a better place.

...it'll hurt, a lot. And no amounts of "he's in a better place" or "he lived a full life" will help, no matter how many times you hear it over the coming weeks and months.

But talk to those people and about all the ways your father touched their lives. From the sounds of it, there will be plenty for your dad. You'll probably hear from people you've never met before. Share memories with your family, and enjoy the presence of those you don't get to be around much anymore. Look through old photos. Laugh together. It'll make it all more bearable.

I sincerely thank each and every one of you so much. Your advice and support mean more to me than you probably know. I'm really absorbing everything you have to say. Especially those whom I know have suffered a loss as well. The words of comfort and the hard truths all carry equal weight with me. It will definitely take a while for me to adjust, but so far, I'm ok.

So sorry to hear your news. May you find solace with your loved ones, and strength and happy memories in the future.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Matt, I've been following your updates on this board and this news is so sad to hear after the hopeful outlook you had posted before. You and your whole family are in my prayers.

I agree that the decision to wait until your father's garden is in bloom is especially fitting and beautiful. Maybe in the meantime you and your mother could find a time to make it to New York to see Harvey in La Cage? I think it could be a good break for both of you.

My father passed away last week. I just returned from his funeral last night.

What has gotten me through so far is knowing that this is a shared life experience that eventually everyone will survive. If so many before me have made it to the other side, then I know I will as well.
