Are we specifically talking about Chinese people or "Asian Americans?"
Raggy, baby, look at where all the people listed were born.
Asian Americans aren't Chinese.
Chinese are Chinese.
Chinese people. It's Chinese New Year, not Asian New Year or Asian-American New Year. And we're not limiting it to Chinese who can speak English. Some of these people (like Jet Li and Zhang Ziyi) barely speak a word. Hope that doesn't offend you, Raggy.
Tiff - SHUT UP! Just SHUT UP!
Don't mention people who can't speak English.
We ALL remember what happened last time...
My GOD. If we were discussing Puerto Rican celebrations, would someone be like, "I am a HUGE Penelope Cruz and Salma Hayek fan!"
No, they would not Tiff.
Sra. Cruz is from Spain and Sra. Hayek is from Mexico.
(Thanks for spelling it out so I don't look like I'm talkin' smack about Puerto Ricans, Penelope or Salma. They're all lovely.)
Got to send some love to Lucy Lui. (BD is there, and Tiff so it's all HOT!)
Marlene. Get that in to your heads. She's going to be a big some day soon...
Man this bites, my "hong pows" sucked this yeeeear. Well mainly because I didn't get any from my lovely relatives in Singapore...so that leaves the large one to be from my lovely mother, and depressing pairs from other people...
It must be midnight soooooon...so I can get my friggin $5 tickets to Piazza. (soryr for the threadjack...)

Yeah...Lucy.
I just got my parents' hong bao. $100. *whew* All the relatives have moved away or are out of town this year, so I'm afraid this is all I'll get. Maybe $5-$20 next weekend. Too bad. Back in the day, it was clearing $200 annually.
I'm disappointed because I usually get more from my mother, but I think it's partially due to the result from my unnecessary shopping sprees every time I get money. ($40) o_0 Yuck. I got a few really small ones that don’t count because I couldn't even get drinks for everyone with them at Starbucks this afternoon...hrrrrm, I should really visit my relatives during New Year's. Oh well, my runaway fund is still existent because of that very, very good year. I remember when I use to have no clue how much $ my relatives would actually give me and my mother would "keep it in a safe place" pour moi, and give me like $20 from each person. Then I got older, and I actually figured out that money can get you things...okaaay, why isn’t dear Aunt Susan visiting on a business trip to NYC in the near future, I WANT MY HONG POWS! Okaaay, I should stop being a greedy crass and shut up…
*ponders* Who else do I like that's Chinese...?!?!?!
