This is important step at a time when when attacks on working people have weakened the middle class; when voter suppression laws threaten to disenfranchise the poor, people of color, young people and seniors; and when the gun lobby and ALEC have planted laws that allowed a racially profiled, unarmed teenager to be shot dead with no consequences to the perpetrator.

These insidious laws need to be abolished. The 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington is upon us August 24th. It's a disgrace that 50 years after Dr. King's "I Have a Dream" speech that we are still dealing with this bullsh!t!

Now let us see how much crime goes up. Be careful what you wish for ... you may get it. If the police are in a minority neighborhood it stands to reason that more minorities will be stopped. Not to many Swedes or Frenchmen would be walking the streets there but you never know

The next mayor will have to explain away why crime has spiked. In addition black on black crime will continue unabated. Of course, the good Rev Sharpton and the gang will not address this as it does not fit their agenda.

Given that this policy, intended to catch criminals before they commit any crime, has a failure rate of close to 90 percent (9 out of 10 people stopped are relased without even a ticket), just how big a spike in crime do you anticipate?

The police need to be smarter, not more aggressive. Rather a steady, benevolent, vigilant police force than a disruptive, targeting, and prejudicial one. Programs like stop-and-frisk sound good in concept; in execution, more young black men were stopped in recent years than actually live in the city.

Words don't deserve that kind of malarkey. They're innocent, neutral, precise, standing for this, describing that, meaning the other, so if you look after them you can build bridges across incomprehension and chaos. But when they get their corners knocked off, they're no good anymore…I don't think writers are sacred, but words are. They deserve respect. If you get the right ones in the right order, you can nudge the world a little.

The stats do seem to support that Stop and Frisk has had a tremendous effect on getting illegal guns off the streets of New York and has probably saved the lives of hundreds of (mostly minority) citizens.

That being said, Stop and Frisk is completely and utterly UNCONSTITUTIONAL!!

The 4th Amendment: "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

Can't make it much clearer than that!

Yet if you compare the murder rate in Chicago to that of NYC (which has a much larger population than Chicago), it would appear that NYC was doing something that was bringing the murder rates in the city down. Was it Stop and Frisk? But, it is indeed, without question unconstitutional.

Out of approximately 130k stop-and-frisks for suspected weapons possession last year, less than 800 guns were confiscated. Around 6000 people stopped even had a weapon at all and most only had some sort of knife.

There's this Italian tatted up muscle cop who works the theater district after shows get out, usually around really busy stage doors like LUCKY GUY.

I'd like him to stop and frisk me.
