oh i DO like that sappy song.
"please, don't let this feeling end ..."
Johnny Weir answered my fan (e)mail!
It's crush time!
What did you ask him Glebb? What did he say?
Glebby - what fun! I can picture you receiving his reply! I love it.
LOl! He thanked me for writing and told me to take care. :)
Just about as much as BD said, but it's still fun to get a response. :)
BD? As in B.D. Wong? He came to my school a few weeks ago but I couldn't go because I had rehearsal and I think it was also the night of the Ladies Long Program! As much as I wanted to meet him, as soon as rehearsal was over I was headed home!
I wanna write Johnny too :)
glebbie, please scan johnny's letter and post it
Please note that the World Figure Skating Championships are being shown on ESPN and not on network television. Check out the link for the schedule.

Hi Dottie, thanks for the headsup, I thought the skating season is over. Yay, there's more!
Hi Jane2, the Worlds concludes the season.
Anyone plan on seeing Champions on Ice? They'll be in DC in April (but I won't be here).
Nah, I'm in NY and hardly get time off from work to travel. Do you usually go to that?
I went in 2002 after the Olympics (because Michelle was going to be there). Although she didn't win the gold that year, she still got the loudest applause.
The skaters more or less skate their exhibition programs.
They usually go to Madison Square Garden. I'm pretty sure that Champions on Ice has a website you can go to for their upcoming schedule.

I went to CoI after the 2002 Olympics, too! That seems like such a long time ago. Seeing Michelle skate was like a dream, she did her Fields of Gold program.
Was Alexi Yagudin on tour that year, too? I kind of remember seeing him...
I read that pairs skaters, Shen and Zhao are not competing at Worlds because he his still plagued with problems from his earlier achilles injury.
that's sad, because i love S&Z so much. but he needs to take time to heal. i wonder if they will compete next year?
O my Zaney i hate ice princess wih a passion . i think that it was so unrealistic. And the solos with words to them are interpretive solos. Alot of young skating clubs let the skaters have words in them to express more emotion.

Ice Princess was realistic in some regards, compared to other skating movies, at least some that I have seen.
It's my understanding that in USFSA sanctioned events, all music for long/short programs must be without lyrics, with the exception of the OD and FD for Ice Dance. Skaters may have lyrical music for Artistic programs, where the emphasis is on intepretation and entertainment, or for exhibitions where you could technically skate to anything you wanted to. Artistic was always my favorite part of competition, b/c I got to skate to Broadway tunes!
I can't say this is the case for other skating organizations in the U.S, though.
I also liked how the font the used for the results sheets was the font used at some of the competitions I skated at. Very trifle, I know, but it's something that, when I saw it for the first time, my first reaction was "Whoa, I've seen that before!"
Edited: B/c I kn't spelz.

Huzzah! Yay worlds! I peeked at the results of the Men's SP results, but I won't say anything! No spoilers... but definitely interesting. Thursday's LP is ripe with possibilites!

My pleasure! Spoilage should be an act of consenting adults, no? :)
Besides, half the fun is sitting on the edge of your sitting, hoping that if you breathe the right way, your favorite skater will land all his/her/their jumps and glide to victory!
I spoiled the ending of the Ladies' FS at Torino, and I've regretted it ever since. I probably would've died of a heart attack, though. Tense!
i know what you mean! i don't understand why MATTY keeps falling when i'm right there in front of live tape-delay tv WILLING him to land each jump!

Tape-delay: The Skating Fan's WORST NIGHTMARE!!
When I was still living at home, I was lucky to be living close enough to Canada that we picked up CBC, I think it was.
I remember my mom watching Michelle and Tara Lipinski skate at like 7am during Nagano 1998 and she was a nervous wreck for Michelle! She wasn't too happy with the results, either. ;-(

Hi! Just wanted to stop by and say that a few weeks ago, I went to see "Light in the Piazza". And sitting RIGHT BEHIND ME was Brian Boitano. This amused me for more reasons than you can imagine (and I'm not just talking about the South Park song, which I admit, was in my head all night long)
I was going to say hi to him afterwards, but he left in a hurry. And, well...he wasn't exactly in an amicable mood... lol
Okay Zaney, I was just saying that it was unrealist because of how quick she learned how to jump. You should know being a skater, When she feel on her single lutz and then trys again and lands a double, I'm going to say that that is a unrealistic.
