Ruth Wilson was brilliant in The Affair, so happy for her. Glad for all the Birdman and Boyhood love.
Melissa McCarthy looked great. Lena Dunham seems to wear dresses not particularly tailored to her body.

INTO THE WOODS may not have gotten anything but it makes me happy that a great film like THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL did win. At least Wes Anderson did not get screwed over this time.

I liked 'How to Train Your Dragon 2', but I was hoping that 'The Lego Movie' or 'Big Hero 6' would win Best Animated Film.

Apparently the air conditioning wasn't on for some reason, which caused a man to pass out. Fonda's rep has denied it was her date.

I wasn't aware Prince was presenting, so when they announced him and he came out... I totally thought it was Amy Poehler. He can look like such a parody of Prince sometimes.

I love Tina and Amy, but that opening was nowhere nearly as funny as their prior monologues. And, I love Margaret Cho but, boy, did they beat that N. Korean bit into the ground. Maybe it's not such a bad thing that they're not returning. Maybe we can get Fond and Tomlin next year.
So, is it just the lighting or is virtually every nominee required to be orange now? All that bronzer makes my stomach turn.
Oh, and as silly as the HFPA is, I do like their willingness to spotlight new talent rather than give the same award to the same actor/actress/show year after year.

I kinda wish all these stars would stop turning up, and the Globes might stop being a thing. I suppose I can't begrudge people their fun, but really...the Oscars is enough. All the endless build-up makes me enjoy the season less each year.

I've just never been interested in watching any of these awards programs for some reason. But to see JLo's picture plastered over sites from last night's red carpet makes me dislike her even more than I already do!

I thought it was okay. I time-shifted it so I could skip through a lot of the chaff. I thought the opening was off. The camerapeople didn't seem to know who to be cutting to (when they cut to anyone at all).

Certainly happy that Transparent got such recognition last night- I haven't watched it yet, but in terms of visibility for the trans community, it is definitely a great thing to see a show like this rewarded. Also, what was with the win for Birdman's screenplay? I enjoyed the acting and appreciated the technical elements of the movie, but I thought the screenplay was lousy at best.

I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

I especially liked when Jill Soloway dedicated her Transparent win to Leelah Alcorn and to "too many trans people who died too young."
