Uh oh....from PerezHilton.com:

"Bad news Grey's fans. Dr. Izzie Stevenson may be checking out of the hospital!

According to People magazine, Katherine Heigl has dropped out of contract talks with Grey's Anatomy over salary.

"Katie is disappointed and hurt that (producer) Touchstone doesn't value her as much as her other costars, especially Sandra Oh and Isaiah Washington," a well-placed source says.

Now, you can take this many ways. You can take it at face value or.....

1) Heigl is using this as an excuse to jump ship because she knows the show is sinking
2) She's uncomfortable working with Isaiah Washington
3) Kat wants to do films
or
4) The most likely scenario is that her "camp" leaked this information as a ploy to force ABC/Touchstone's hand in the contract negotiation. And, hopefully they will step up to the plate and pay her what she (thinks she) deserves.

Either way, this is not good news for the show, which has been suffering a string of negative publicity lately.

Time to start watching House on Fox (if you don't already)!"

Katherine Heigl SHOULDN'T be paid the same as Sandra Oh- Oh is a much, much better actress.

That being said, I love Izzie despite the fact that she occasionally acts like a tool. I would be sad if she leaves. But, I'm dropping the show anyway once Addison gets her own spinoff.

Sandra Oh was a pretty well established actress before Grey's, between Arliss and Sideways. Heigl was in...what? Roswell or something?

I like her, but I don't make the same money some of my co-workers do. Ramirez and Walsh are my favorites and probably don't make as much..sheesh. It's not only about the money!

Heigl has been doing feathure films sinceshe was 13 - remember "My Father the Hero" with Gerard Depardieu?

Meanwhile, she has a big summer comedy coming out - "Knocked Up".

I have to say, seeing as Kate and Katherine are probably my two favorite Grey's cast members/characters (and Sandra/Cristina too definitely), all this talk does make me pretty sad.

However, it's not too bad, because Kate has a clause in her contract saying she'll def come back if the spin off fails (and simply because of that I really hope it DOES), and a new thing is also out saying Katherine's contract isn't through for a good few years, so she'll still be on for quite a while- so yay!

and just to contribute a little bit to the conversation, I think she absolutely deserves to be on the same scale as the others. No she didn't have a well established career already like Sandra (who, dont get me wrong, is INCREDIBLE), but I personally feel she gave one of the very best performances of last season in the finale. She really is,in my opinion, one of the strongest actors on the show, and so she deserves the higher pay. Not because she's more of a star, but because she's actually really great- ON the show, which is what should essentially matter.

I agree- which is why I dont WANT it to be good or do well- cause Kate will be needing to get her butt back to Grey's asap :P there's just no need for it. Although.. I suppose more of Addison is always cool. But it'll just be really different, even if it IS good! Look at Angel as a spin off of Buffy- it was actually quite a good show imo, but even though it had some of the same characters it was still REALLY different and didn't feel like the same show. Seriously, why would they mess with something as good as Grey's? its not like its loosing ratings or anything is it?

Actor Taye Diggs is to star in a special two-hour episode of 'Grey's Anatomy', which could lead to a spin-off series from the hit medical drama.


The Hollywood Reporter says that the episode, described by the trade daily as a "back-door pilot", will air on US television in May and will focus on neonatal surgeon Addison Montgomery-Shepherd (Kate Walsh).


While there are no details on the character Diggs will play, it is understood the episode will feature Montgomery-Shepherd on the verge of leaving Seattle Grace Hospital, a storyline that would come into effect if the episode leads to a full spin-off series.

Katherine apparently has that Isabel (or Isobel) look about her. I was IMDBing her because I couldn't believe that she was really that girl in My Father the Hero and I was looking at her other roles as well. She has been an Isabel twice, on Roswell and in Wuthering Heights, and now she is an Isobel. That girl is destined to be an Izzie one way or another.

Yea, supposedly she wasn't even informed of the spin-off until Shonda had already started penning the two-hour episode of "Grey's" that will be the pilot for the Addison-themed show.

I also fear Taye being the kiss of death, newgirl.

The repeats are getting annoying. I wish they would have a new episode. Desperate Housewives is a repeat this sunday and Ugly Betty has been repeats for the past 2 weeks. What's going on ABC?
