Bette has repeatedly said no to the idea of doing a show 8 times a week. She has refered to it as factory work.. ( I am paraphrasing.. I don't remeber what her exact words were on Larry King).

I just wanted to answer the question as to why I didn't put this on the main board. The people I care to discuss this with post on the OT board. re: HELLO DOLLY - Is a revival on the horizon?

Not to mention the "factory work" it is for those who have to deal with her eight times a week.

Roxy, why don't you play Vandergelder? You're a cheapskate in real life.

Of course Dolly P. playing Dolly L. would be great!

But honestly, I think Miss Pigy would be great too.

Morosco, the idea of Dame Edna Everage appearing in a musical isn't as far fetched as you'd imagine. In the seventies Edna was considered for Miss Hannigan in the original Australian production of ANNIE, this was decades before drag Lily Savage did the role in the West End.

The best suggestion so far is Megan Mulally. She has done musicals before and would be a genuine drawcard.

Roxy,
I love me some Liza... but I think she is wise to stick to concerts these days. And she has also said she doesn't want the grind of 8 shows a week. megan would be fine.. but I saw her in a concert at the gay and lesbian center two years ago and I was not crazy about hr voice.

I found this picture last night. If she sang it as good as she looks, she must have been wonderful!

Ms. Mullally should keep her eye on the rumored transfer of the London "Guys and Dolls," as she would be a great Adelaide.

I do think that she would be a credible Dolly, as well. Simply, not top choice.

re: HELLO DOLLY - Is a revival on the horizon?

I am curious if they will only go forward with a revival if a "name" is attached? Can the show sell itself?

I like the idea (someone mentioned bf) of Faith Prince ... a great comedienne and singer.

Kristin is much too young to be worried about "the parade passing her by". Dolly has to be a mature person.
