OK,
I have an amazing opportunity to move to Hong Kong for almost a year for work. They would cover basically everything while I was there. It is a once in a lifetime chance to do what I always wanted to do.
I have a background in International Relations, East Asian Studies, studied Mandarin (not Catonese) Chinese for two years, worked in Taipei for a summer, and originally wanted to work on the Mainland.
The only issue is how to get my two furry kids over there. They have to come with me. It is not negotiable.
Does anyone have any experience with Pet Travel companies that travel to Asia? Clearly, they will not go as cargo, and I know that some airlines have facilities on planes when you travel so pets can go in pressurized cabins and get there safely. I think I will be flying Cathy Pacific.
If anyone has any experiences with any companies, I would appreciate it.
Holy ****. Hong Kong.

CONGRATULATIONS! You're gonna love Hong Kong. It's like New York City, only...Cantonese. And busier (if you can believe it).
WOW! congratulations! i hope you have an amazing experience, furry friends and all!
That's amazing! Good for you!
I hope the cats can come with you! Otherwise, Miss Holly may offer to watch them and I'm allergic to cats!
It's so great that you've gotten this opportunity.
Congratulations! That sounds like an amazing opportunity. I wouldn't be able to leave my pets either, I'm much to attached.
some airlines allow one, or two pets per cabin in approved carriers under the seat. What that means is that it's one per person, so you'd need another person traveling with you. Some airlines allow none.
Some carry pets in the hold......which are usually NOT pressurized and NOT heated, which they must be for the safety of the cats
and congrats, although I'll be miserable if you go!
Congrats on the opportunity! That sounds like an amazing offer. I'm sure that there's a way to get your furry loved ones over there, although I haven't had any experience with that personally. Good luck!

Now that is a set of jugs - wow.
Thank You..well, Mae West thanks you.
For some reason, I knew Mae was stacked, but never realized how stacked. Oy, the back pain.
And to think back them they were REAL !!! I'm sure many men took her up on her famous line... "Come up and see me sometime".

Y - go for it, just make sure you do not forget me!!!!!!!
Brd - I will be leaving in a couple of months if it happens. I will just be posting at some very odd hours on this board. Unless of course the PRC filters it from being accessed - which may affect me from my apartment, but should not affect me from work, which would patch in to the US servers.
Oy - I kept asking Stoli - Do you want to go to Hong Kong?

We see GettinHep regularly from Down Under.
I hope it works out. Because of my practice and my family, I will stay put. We do want to spend time in NY later in life.
Well, you can live in HK through my exploits.
I also have to figure out whether there are any issues with me practicing law there . . .
Oy. Zorra - you want to go to Hong Kong?

I assume that you will not be engaged in any litigation and I assume that you company takes care of all E&O issues.
Are the pets answering your questions?
Stoli told me as long as he was fed and not being fed to someone he was fine, and Zorra does whatever Stoli tells her to!
I work in house, so the only thing I would worry about is running afoul of some licensing laws in HK. I don't think it should be an issue, but you never know.
All right, off to feed the beasts. Stoli said Hong Kong or no Hong Kong, he is hungry now!
WOW!! That is awesome! I'm sure you'll find a way to take the pets along with you. Congrats! When are you set to leave if it all goes through?
Probably by mid to late March. With a recon trip in late Feb to check out housing and have formal introductions made to the office there and in Singapore (which I will be going to as well from the HK offices) to help ease me in a bit.
Popular - did you ever scope out a ticket for Monday?
Nope, no luck with Monday as of yet *shrug*
That's so exciting for you, March is just around the corner!
Yep. I will probably go at the end of Feb for introductions and to scope out living spaces, if the corproate apartment won't accetp cats.
It is all pretty exciting, and a wee bit terrifyng.
So far Stoli has definately said he wants to go, and Zorra just follows the food.
I should have confirmation of terms, dates, lenghth etc in the next week or so.
BTW - you will be missed on Monday. I knew I should have bought two!
