Is he on his deathbed, or is he recovering? Expected to make a full recovery? Will he be able to make a return before Oscar high time? Or is it not looking good?
I hate how the press just reports his illness then leaves him high and dry -- just waiting for him to die to make a good news story or if he returns, ignore it and don't bother letting us know.
Regardless, I hope he is resting and getting well.

He is writing reviews again for the Sun-Times, but is not well enough to do the TV show.
There is more info on his website.
I was wondering the same thing. I'm enjoying the guest hosts, but I want him back.

He's apparently making a slow but steady recovery. He reviewed "The Queen" recently and is seeing and reviewing films here & there.
"LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Pulitzer Prize-winning film critic Roger Ebert said he plans a "return to action" at his upcoming Overlooked Film Festival in Illinois later this month as he continues recovering from cancer surgery.
"I'll watch from the audience," he said in a posting on Tuesday on his Web site, rogerebert.com.
"I think of the festival as the first step on my return to action. Because I will be under scrutiny there, I'll tell you what to expect: a sick guy, getting better, who still loves the movies and the festival," Ebert added."
Film critic Ebert plans "return to action"
"My Ninth Annual Overlooked Film Festival opens Wednesday night at the University of Illinois at Urbana, and Chaz and I will be in attendance.
This year I won’t be speaking, however, as I await another surgery.
I have received a lot of advice that I should not attend the festival. I’m told that paparazzi will take unflattering pictures, people will be unkind, etc.
Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn. As a journalist I can take it as well as dish it out."
‘I ain’t a pretty boy no more’
I respect this man.
I had no idea he was a Pulitzer Prize winner.
Good for him.
In his review for Enough, Ebert called Jennifer Lopez one of his favorite actresses.
I think she's a good actress, just sucky at choosing roles.
Her best work, though, is in SELENA. I could watwch that movie forever.
I think I'm watching a very early DOG episode. He has short hair, and there's a narrator.
Mor reason to love this man:

"LOS ANGELES — Roger Ebert has turned thumbs down on thumb reviews for "At the Movies with Ebert & Roeper."
Ebert, who is negotiating a new contract with the syndicated TV show's distributor, Disney-ABC Domestic Television, is a copyright holder on the signature "thumbs up-thumbs down" judgment that's part of each film review.
He has "exercised his right to withhold use of the `thumbs' until a new contract is signed," the Walt Disney Co.-owned company said in a statement released Friday to The Associated Press."
Ebert: No Thumbs, Up or Down, on TV Show
Frankly I doubt Ebert will ever get the vocal or visual skills enough for TV. Head and Neck surgery can be very dramatic resulting in slurred speech etc, as well as facial defects. Over 40% of my nursing practise is in this pt population. If he really is a cure then posting/print reviews it may have to be enough. L*rd knows the cure part alone my guys would take.
He wrote a follow-up to "I Hated, Hated, Hated This Movie" called, aptly, "Your Movie Sucks." Not only does it have deliciously bitchy reviews of dreadful movies from 2000-2006, but it starts out with the Rob Schneider/Patrick Goldstein feud and a chronicle of the Brown Bunny saga.

Roger's new computerized voice.
That was a wonderful video. I wish him and his family all the best and hope that his next surgery is a success. I miss him on TV.
He certainly has gone through a lot. I wish him well, and a speedy recovery.
