Problem is, my grades aren't good enough to apply to a really selective school
Don't sell yourself short like that. The college application process is largely a crapshoot, hardly formulaic, and very difficult to make sense of. I got into schools I was sure were reaches, and got rejected from places I "knew" I'd get into. It's really hard to know exactly what they're looking for. If there's somewhere you want to go, apply. What's the worst that can happen? You get rejected. Which sucks, I know that too well, but if you don't at least try, you will never even have the option to go. So don't not apply because you don't think your grades are good enough. You're obviously smart and have a lot going for you, and grades are only one of the many, many things that come into play when admissions people make their decisions.

Good morning girls & Piano
I don't think I've ever been this relieved to make it through the week. *wipes forehead* Hopefully I can cap it off right tonight with some friends and get obscenely raucous and handsy in the process!! (Shhhhh...don't tell Stockard or Danmag, they'll kill me. I've got to uphold that "wholesome" Tofu image after all)
I hope you all have a pleasant day.
Well, I'm LMAO at that one, Tofu!! I'd be right there with ya if I could be!
Happy Friday, all! It's a gorgeous day here - I foresee cocktails starting around 3:00. It's just been one of those weeks...
It's GORGEOUS out today! What a wonderful Friday! I'm supposed to go see my friend in a show and go out after, but to be perfectly honest it feels like one of those "wine and a movie in your pajamas" nights. This week has just worn me out.
Danmag, I wish I could start at 3. But I don't think my boss would appreciate that LOL
Well dang, I guess we are the ones with the OK weather. It has been foggy all morning, and I think its supposed to rain, but at least it is warmer and shorts weather!
I can sense today being a good day, tonight is day 1 of the handbells conference!
Tofu- I totally LOVED Kids Incorporated and have loved Jennifer Love since then, too!! :)
It is gorgeous here today!
So I got offered another show yesterday. :)
Schmerg- I'm with luvtheemcee...don't put too much emphasis on your grades. Because a)They're really not bad at all b)your test scores are awesome and c) schools really are looking for someone who's well-rounded and your extracurriculars will factor in a lot, too. Between all your academic contests and your theatre and other things, you're a catch for any school. Trust me...my aunt's exhusband is technically a genius and he was Vice President of Toshiba for a while, but he got denied from one of the Ivy League schools (can't remember which) because he had nothing to offer other than great grades.
Ok, so today is going to be a good day! Physics lab was only 30 minutes (even though its scheduled for 2 hours) Italian was fun and she cut it short, and my class now is cancelled!! So I hope everyone has a great weekend!!
And yeah Schmerg, what I learned last year when everyone was applying places, its all about how you present yourself. Somehow, you need to make yourself unique and stand out through your essays and extra curriculars. And really, when it comes down to it, for the most part, no matter where you go, it is where you are meant to be and you will end up loving it.
Hey girls!
It's a beaultiful day in NY!!! we are supposed to have thunder storms this weekend. I actually love a good thunder storm..with a glass of wine and a great book. But it FREAKS my dog out!
Yay! Friday!
Thanks for the shoutout Maisie! I'm a big bundle of emotions today... I'm so excited for the show, but kinda sad because I won't get to work with these kids again.
The show is going to be amazing though!
I'm so glad it's nice out today... it suits my mood!

"Oh please, Over at 'Gypsy' Patti LuPone hasn't even alienated her first daughter yet!" Mary Testa in "Xanadu" "...Like a drunk Chita Rivera!" Robin de Jesus in "In the Heights"
"B*tch, I don't know your life." -Xanadu After that if he still doesn't understand why you were uncomfortable and are now infuriated, kick him again but this time with Jazz Hands!!! -KillerTofu

Mmm agreed. But a glass on wine is good on any occasion in my book
I just finished making cards for the cast... I am way too involved! I know I am going to cry tonight... I'm just so proud of them!
Well, girls I am going to go get dressed for opening night! I have to make a quick Target run to buy a hair curler and then off to the theater!!!

Have fun withoutlove!
So I'm going to see my friend in The Cocoanuts tonight. It's apparently a musical about the Marx brothers, and I don't really want to go haha. I'm only going because the girl I'm seeing is one of my best friends. Anyone know anything about it? Hopefully she'll buy me a drink after
Good luck, Kels! I want pictures!
Maisie, enjoy another weekend of shows. The end will be bittersweet, but you'll have a ton of great memories to look back on.
luscious, congratulations on another show! What is this one?
Tofu, I thought Erik von Detten was the hottest thing ever. Looking at that picture, I should have been taken back out and shot. He reeks of 1998. Kids, Inc. was awesome, and so is J.Love. I still have my Barbie Workout VHS tape with her in it, when she's about 12!
Drink a lot for me, ladies. I have to abstain this weekend, as I have a 921830832-page report to write for Target on how they can expand into the urban market. Thrilling, I know.
Good luck Kels!!!! And I know all about being too involved in the shows. :)
I'm going to miss the final performance of Falsettos and it makes me sad, even though I'm gonna be in NYC with my mom. Still makes me sad. Tonight I have to miss callback auditions for Jeffrey, because I'll be backstage at Falsettos and that bums me out, too. Wish I could be in two places at once! I'm also trying to figure out what to do for the cast for the final performance. Last show I actually made them paintings. I'm not doing that again!! Too much time and too expensive. I might just bake them something.
Jag- It's called Freakshow. I haven't read the script yet. I've been offered either SM or ASM. I really don't think I'd be a great SM, so I told them ASM. However, I guess this is more like a theatre fest and it's not a full blown production, so my current SM thinks I'd do really well as SM. Soooo I'm thinking about it.
Break a leg tonight Miss Maisie!!! :)
JAG I have that workout video too! Haha too funny!

Luscious congrats on being offered the position! I wish I knew more about being on the production side of a show.
But I really need to find another gig LOL I'm dancing in a showcase and singing in a jazz festival, but those are only one day things with a very very small paycheck attached. I didn't get Gertrude in Seussical so I turned it down. It was too far of a commute to be a Bird Girl. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Ocean City's summer stock, I should hear sometime in April. But I have an audition for All Shook Up and Peter Pan this weekend, which I'm super psyched about! Peter Pan is one of my dream roles. While other little girls grew up dreaming about being Ariel or Belle, I wanted to cut off all my hair and fly around like Peter. Yeah...
Based on the title, luscious, it sounds cool! ASM would be less stressful than SM, that's for sure. Both'll keep you busy though! Why not take a chance and give SM a try?
Kels, I LOVE that tape. I still do it probably monthly because I'm too lazy to do actual exercise. The moves never fail to make me laugh.
I'm trying really hard to not to be a huge bitch to my roommate right now, but it's hard. We were discussing the merits of being pretty vs. being smart (thanks to Tyra), and which you would choose if you could only pick one. I said smart because looks fade, and I'd rather be intelligent enough to earn my own money and make myself pretty if need be. Everything can be fixed, y'know? She said pretty. I asked her what would happen when she started to age if that were the case, and she was no longer good-looking but also a dumbass. She said she hoped some rich guy would have married her by then, and said this in all seriousness. Now, I can totally understand some people wanting to be pretty over smart, but you have to back it up with something a little more valid than that ****. Then she went on to mention that "luckily, in the real world, I'm pretty and smart." REALLY? REALLY? Wow. Girl's one of my best friends, but she made herself look totally shallow and self-absorbed with that one.

Schmerg a bunch of kids from WS when I was teaching there went to CNU, and most ended up dropping out because of the partying that apparently goes on there.
Pianolin, when I was coaching cheerleading the state competition was always held at VCU. I'm actually going to be in Richmond for a wedding next fall. My step brother went to U of R, and wants to get married in the chapel there.
I went to ODU.
Oh, yeah. I think I might have had my first hotflash today. Is that possible?
I was at the nail salon and all of a sudden I was sweating my ass off. I thought I was going to puke. I had to wet a paper towel and keep wetting my face. Then the dude opened the door to the outside and the fresh air made me feel better after a little while.

Actually, recently they totally banned alcohol, and unlike a lot of colleges, apparently they're REALLY strict on enforcing it... which is probably good for me, 'cause I don't believe in consuming anything that makes me even MORE ridiculous than ever!
Arhgh, have to go
