I know, right?? The frightening thing is that Greg Armstrong-Morris has actually gone places after that show - he's now in the ensemble of Lord Of The Rings!

Eep.

I know this shouldn't have too much weight, but judging from the photos of their past productions, doesn't it look a bit amateur-ish? I have no qualms with starting off in a community theatre environment (it's not like I have ANY experience in the theatre industry) but I also need to consider how much they'll offer me for salary.

I know what you're saying on the amateur-ish thing. I'd say put in for it and see what happens. See what the pay will be. Keep the time commitment in mind. See what else is on the horizon for film work. If the salary is laughable and you've got potential other stuff in the works for film, then pass on it. If PAing is looking a bit slow and you'd be getting enough to start re-cusioning your bank account, then what the hell, right? You haven't got a lot of experience in theater, and it might be an interesting way to get an idea if it's something you'd like to consider as an option somewhere down the road.

I agree with Nic; go ahead and apply for it. It's nice to have the option.

I know! I love that Phil loves his plaid!

Just as a side note...I saw his son, Cooper when my folks and I stumbled into the closing night party of Long Day's Jouney into Night, and he was the most darling baby I've ever seen! He co-produced Capote, and the name of his production company is Cooperstown Productions. Awwwww!!!

Awww, that's so sweet, Cooperstown Productions!
At first I thought you were saying Cooper co-produced Capote, and I was thinking that he must be a very advanced 3-year-old!
I loved Phil's outfit as they were walking through the park and the interviewer's comment that it looked like he slept in the park. re: U2 Thread: The saga continues...

Oops! Guess that was awkwardly structured. Haha! He has one talented kid!

That park get up was a riot, with his little red hat. And I was amused by his his white ankle socks. That reminds me of my dad. My mom and I have to make check his feet out before we leave the house for anything that's quasi-dressy, scanning for white socks.

Yeah, I totally read that as meaning that Cooper was some infant prodigy too! re: U2 Thread: The saga continues...

Didn't end up having much of an Oscar movie night - we watched, er, Chasing Liberty. Shut up. Stop laughing. It had Venice and London in it, and we wanted to watch something that had European destinations we're planning to hit next year. I think I'll start a thread at some point of movies to recommend that are set in western Europe.

Okay, I'll apply for that company. At the very least, I'd like to see the process they go through to create AiA. Plus this is the company that produced that musical, Alley Cats, with Lea DeLaria, so they've done some reasonable popular stuff.

HAHA. *points and laughs at Tiff*
You certainly went in a different direction from your Oscar movies idea. But you're forgiven because I love Mandy Moore. She's brilliant in one of my favorite movies, Saved!, and if any of you haven't heard her album Coverage, lemme know and I'll burn you a copy because I think it's great.
Did you finish your stuff for Icon yet?

Haven't heard Coverage - is that the one where she covers other people's songs? (Good deductive reasoning, eh? The title didn't help a bit!)

I haven't, er, started the Icon stuff yet. But that's because it turns out the stupid politico's letter didn't arrive to McGill, even though it should've been there a month ago! *headdesk* So I've gotta make some calls and send some e-mails so I don't get totally screwed over. re: U2 Thread: The saga continues...

And THEN I'll work on the Icon stuff and the Assoc Producer letter.

Tiff, you're one smart cookie for figuring out that the album "Coverage" is made up of covers. re: U2 Thread: The saga continues... Yep, that's the one.

Good luck on all your paperwork, Tiff. I'm sorry about the McGill mix-up, that sucks.

My day started out poorly after getting back a crappy Linguistics test, but I just checked my mail and it turned my day around! The RENT DVD and the "See What I Wanna See" cast recording arrived! Hooray for an Idina day!

Claaaaaire!

Go read the second-to-last page of the Bitches thread. I need your and Nic's help. (And don't judge me. I know this is sort of out-of-character for me, but I'm too scared/embarrassed to start a new thread on it!)

I haven't heard "Coverage" or really any of Mandy Moore's albums for that matter...though I do enjoy her, from the little I've seen of her. She has a cute personality, and I'm really looking forward to Dedication, the new movie she's filming now with Billy Crudup. She was also born in the same hospital as me! Go Nashua, New Hampshire!!!

ETA: Tiff, you little vixen, you'd best be padding up that resume and getting everything ready for that audition! You can do it!!! re: U2 Thread: The saga continues...

I'm excited about Dedication, too. And American Dreamz, which is coming out soon (in April), looks hilarious. She's a big Counting Crows fan and she's buddies with Adam Duritz, so that especially makes me love her (I'm a bit obsessed with CC).

Tiff, you have to keep us updated on that movie. It sounds like the perfect opportunity for you.

I actually love Mandy Moore.

I didn't even realize she had a CD out that I don't own. I have her first 3 and still listen to them.

Thanks for putting something else to buy on my radar. :-P

Guys, I got my first response back from my Internship applications and it was a rejection. re: U2 Thread: The saga continues... I have a feeling that I'll end up flipping burgers this summer.

You the man, Stephen!

Ouch, Claire. That sucks - who would turn down a free worker??

In a similar vein, I just talked to the production coordinator of "Butterfly on a Wheel" and my chances of getting hired as a producers' assistant is slim-to-none. As she pointed out, they want to hire someone with previous experience because taking me on for a trial week or two means more work for them if I end up getting canned and they need to hire a new person. She did also say that it's likely that none of the Icon producers will actually physically be in town, so that cheers me up. I'll still send in my cover letter and resume anyway - there are worse things than winding up as Gerard Butler or Pierce Brosnan's personal assistant! (I just have to bite my tongue and not tell Gerry how awful he was in POTO!)

Aw, I'm sorry, Tiff. But I agree that you should still send in your resume. Being a personal assistant seems like it would be a pretty good gig!

For my internship, they said that they don't have the program in the summer anymore (which is when I applied for) but they forgot to take it off of their website.

Mandy's "Have a Little Faith in Me" cover is beautiful. You may have heard it; it was on the radio a lot when the album was released.

Oh, Claire! I'm so sorry. Oh no! That wasn't the one where I was supposed to review your cover letter was it?!? I'm so sorry! I totally forgot about that. I've been so bad about keeping up with stuff lately. Reading. That's about all that I've managed to stay on top of. I still haven't written a single journal entry for my internship (which I have to keep as part of getting credit). Ugh!

Tiff, I'm sorry to hear that the producer's assistant thing doesn't seem to look particularly promising, but it's always at least worth a shot, right?!

Pat! Eeee!! So excited about a copy of the DVD! I actually got one from the woman Claire and I got our GAs from, but the quality is pretty ratty. Not of the video/shooting/sound, etc (I'm sure it's the same show), but the dubbing job was really terrible. She said she had a really crap burner, and it showed! It was very nice of her to send it, but I'm so looking forward to watchable copy!...How've you been by the way?!?!
