I wish I could move to NYC now. Forget school, I'd rather bum around with you gals!
Bump...
ETA: Gotta run, ladies. Back to VW's To the Lighthouse. Fun, fun. Hmmm...think I'm going to run out and get some Junior Mints to pull myself through all this reading. Mmmm!
Williamsburg 3 bedroom on L train
I didn't end up applying for Icon. *whistles* I was going to, but then I figured I need to get more Office PA or producer's assistant experience before they'd give me the time of day, so I don't want to be rejected right off the bat!
The Chinatown one doesn't look too bad. Everyone keeps talking about Williamsburg and Astoria, but I've got to admit to being a burroughs-phobe still. I'll take a look around Craigslist later.
In the mean time, I'm going for a Dr. Scholl's foot massage and taking a much needed shower! TTYL!
I love how, a few posts back, I said I don't have time to see movies. Which is true, I really don't have time, yet I watch them anyway. I just don't go to the movie theater, because somehow that seems like it wastes so much more time than just watching one here in my room. So I just watched Just Like Heaven for the first time, which I really liked. I would have seen it in theaters but I was in NZ when it came out. I'm obviously a huge Reese fan, so I thought she was great. It was one of the best RomComs I've seen in awhile. I think I may be in the minority opinion, though.
Tiff, I hope you end up applying for Icon sometime in the future.
That Chinatown apartment looks like a great deal. I really wish I could live in NYC now! Tiff, are you really considering moving to NYC? For how long? When?

Man, here I thought I was all original and new with my "Adam Pascal has been murdered" thread on the main board (re: his role on Cold Case) but two other people had threads on it at the same time! Boo. (Really, I just wanted an excuse to say, 'Adam Pascal has been killed' without any guilt. Just to see what the fangirls would say.)
I like most of Reese's movies (maybe even all...I can't think of one I hated). I just think she's a bitch. But I like her as an actress!
I really am considering moving to NY. If law school is really not in the cards this fall, then the world is my oyster and I need to start making plans on WTF I'm going to do with myself!

TYPE_A_TIFF WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU?! BRYAN ADAMS WAS JUST ON THE TV AND HE SANG AND PEOPLE SCREAMED AND I CRIED OMG BRYAN ADAMS!
ALLIE I AM WATCHING ADAM PASCAL ON COLD CASE AND MAKING JOKES ABOUT "EVEN THOUGH HIS ACTING IS STIFF DIDN'T MEAN HE COULD ONLY PLAY A STIFF!" WHILE LAUGHING WITH SELF-SATISFACTION SO I WILL WATCHING THE JUNOS LATER!

I chose Bryan Adams over Adam. Bad fangirl? Perhaps, but it's Bryan f*uckin' Adams!
If you're watching later, you must take note of something Chris Martin says about Bryan Adams, okay? About hugging him. I missed exaclty what he said.
Oh, and Pam Anderson is a crappy host.
Tiff, you're just bitter that if you ever get a production company, you'll have to come up with a new name, since Reese stole Type-A Pictures.
Keep me posted if you actually are going to seriously consider NYC. I have the option to work at West Point again this summer, and if you were thinking of coming to NYC later, maybe we could look for something at the end of the summer. Actually, I think a friend of mine and her roommate will be moving out of their two bedroom on the UES in August, when their lease runs out. Hmmm.
JLH was silly, but it was cute. I really like Reese, and Mark Ruffalo (and Ben Shenkman, even though he was kind of a bastard).
heehee. Good point about Type-A Pictures, Nic.
I'm bored. And nervous for my interview tomorrow. Any last minute tips? Or anyone want to entertain me? I really don't feel like working on my 20-page paper.
The fact that Reese named it Type A Productions actually endeared her to me. (Bitch stole mah trademark!)
I'll totally keep you posted about NYC. Nothing in the mail today, and no news DOESN'T mean good news!
Where on UES is that apartment? Are you considering it? What's the rent?
Did you guys watch Cold Case with Adam Pascal yesterday? Oh man, I was laughing out loud on so many levels. I watch Cold Case once in a while and the writing yesterday hit an all-time low! I was actually embarrassed for them!
Do you feel like you're ready for your interview, Claire? Do you know what questions to anticipate and how to answer them? Is it the same people who interviewed you the first time doing it again? Will you have "seen" a Roundabout show when they ask you?
No, I didn't catch Adam on Cold Case. I'm sorry I missed such an entertaining episode, though!
No, I don't feel ready. No, it's not the same person interviewing me. No, I don't know what questions they'll ask. No, I won't have seen a Roundabout show. Ugh.
BTW, it took me so long to respond because my internet went out. We're having an insane storm here. Earlier today I got caught outside (15 minutes from my dorm, without a jacket or umbrella or car or anything) and ended up completely, wringing-my-underwear-out-in-the-sink, drenched. It's not a good day.

Is this that big 6 state storm that hit a bunch of places in the mid-West? Which areas are affected?
Girl, go prepare for that interview!!!
I dunno about the storm, I haven't been following what's going on in the rest of the world. I'm in my own little bubble. All I know is that the loudest thunder I've ever heard is going on outside my window and my room is often being illuminated by lightning. And I'm not going outside again until it's over because I nearly drowned earlier.
How do I prepare for the interview?!
Think of what your duties as a ticket services person will be, what qualities you have that would make you good at it, what weaknesses you'll have to work on (I used to cop-out and do the "perfectionist" card; now I say my biggest flaw is that I take on a lot of tasks and stretch myself too thin to have much time for myself, but I still manage to complete everything to the best of my abilities - another total cop-out, but better than the "perfectionist" one), why you're interested in working for Roundabout and this role in particular, your passion for theatre, etc.
Thanks, Tiff.
I suppose I'd better make the best of the fact that it's a phone interview and write down a few points, because I can be quite inarticulate at times. I'll go work on that.
Totally. Make a print-out of the Roundabout shows, stats on their databases and subscriber information (it should be on the site and it helps if you prove that you're familiar with their subscribers' program!), the tasks/responsibilities of the ticket services, your strengths and weaknesses.
Hey ladies...just back from class (a little on the damp side...also out without an umbrella or jacket, but I didn't reach ring your underwear out in the sink drenched). We watched the saddest movie in my film class. An Italian film, The Bicycle Thieves (too lazy to look up the Italian title). It was very good though.
Tiff, the apt is in the 80s on York. I think the total rent is something like $16-1700. It's small, but there's a "cozy" living room and a pretty decent kitchen w/ enough room for a little table and everything.
Good luck tomorrow, Claire! Make yourself some notes, and I'm sure you'll do fine. If they ask you about Roundabout shows again, try to at least show them that you're familar with some of their shows, saying some great things you'd heard about them, and how well this season's shows are doing (aren't both Pajama Game and Threepenny Opera sold out for their entire runs??).
*releases air bottled up in my body from the past 2 days*
Interview's over. They're interviewing a bunch of people for the job but the interviews should be over today so I'll find out this afternoon. I suppose it went okay; not stellar or anything, but I know I'm not a good phone person so I wasn't expecting to be brilliant. It was really short. I was prepared for tons of questions that he didn't ask. I'm just glad its over.
Well, it's over and out of your hands now. I'll be keeping good thoughts for you today. Do you know if they're only hiring one person or a couple?
Gotta run. How'd it get to be 10:30 and I've gotten so very little done?!?!?
Thanks for the good thoughts, Nic. I didn't get it (and they were just hiring one person). I really need to start looking for a summer job now since the other internships I applied for don't seem all that promising. Ugh.
So sorry, Claire. I guess it's kind of rough when they're only taking one person though. Was it a full time internship? I don't know how summer internships go (so I suppose it could be different) but it seems internships during the semester are only for 2-3 days a week, so they take more people on (which is definitely nice).
I'm waiting for some pasta to boil, so while I wait...I wasn't overly impressed with V for Vendetta. I really like the premise, but it just didn't do it for me. There were parts that were more graphic than I care for, and then there were a lot of silly things that probably shouldn't have bothered me but did.
I really liked Ice Age 2 though. It was cute and funny, and I'm so glad we saw it after. Did you guys see the first one? That squirrel cracks my SH*T up!!! Too funny!!!
Yep, it was a full time internship.
I saw the first Ice Age and thought it was great, so I'm looking forward to seeing the second one. I have a feeling I won't catch it until it's out on video, though.
Did you see Thank You for Smoking?
That's too bad about V for Vendetta. I've heard mixed reactions; I know some people who loved it and some who didn't like it at all. I still want to see it, though.
My movie-hopping buddy called last night to say that another friend of hers wants to see TYfS for her Birthday on Thursday, so it got bumped for Ice Age. Maybe we'll see it next week (with Friends with Money, perhaps). I was hoping Brick would open at my theater this weekend, but no such luck.
V was ok. I didn't hate it, but I also didn't think it was right up there with the best movies ever made as some people on the V for Vendetta thread seem to be arguing. Ummm, no. I think it had an important message and a great jumping off point, but I wasn't totally blown away and awestruck. Just good.
Sorry to hear you didn't get the job, Claire. On the bright side, it means you can start looking for a summer job and making money instead!
What did you like and dislike about V, Nic? I was supposed to see it last weekend but worked instead. Now I'll have to see that (and "She's The Man") alone!
