Diva, I didn't think you wanted people to know how nice you really are!
How is that cereal, bb? I'm tempted to try it to avoid unhealthy late-night snacking.
It's not bad, but I personally like Special K Fruit and Yogurt much better.
I actually like this best...
I just made a Torta de Santiago for a birthday in my office that was a huge hit. It is an almond cake native to the Galician region of Spain. It is so easy to make and takes about an hour or less to prepare and bake. There are a million variations on the recipe, but this is what I use:
4 eggs
3/4 cup sugar
2 cups finely ground almonds (you can use a small food processor or coffee grinder)
zest of 1 lemon
1/2 tsp Baking Powder
1 Tbsp Cinnamon
Powdered sugar (for decoration)
Preheat oven to 350 and grease round cake pan or tart pan
Combine ground almonds, cinnamon and baking powder; set aside
Beat eggs, sugar and lemon zest until creamy (about 5-8 minutes)
Gently fold in almonds, cinnamon and baking powder
Bake at 350 for 25-35 minutes until golden brown and set (clean toothpick test)
Cool completely on cooling rack (at least 30 minutes)
Sift powdered sugar on top
For traditional decoration, you can download an image of the St. James Cross, print and cut out; place cross on cake and the sift sugar over cake; gently remove cross with tweezers. Our company logo is a maroon tree on a white background, so I sifted some cinnamon in the center of the cake, then placed the tree logo, then sifted the powdered sugar and VOILA! A personalized company cake.
That sounds delish, MM!
danmag, I haven't had Cap'n Crunch in ages!
I walked back into the kitchen to find that someone brought this in to work. I give that thing 10 minutes.
Stockard - It's incredibly light and delicate. Perfect for breakfast or brunch.
So there's no flour in it?
Not in the recipe I use. There are some recipes with flour, but I prefer it without.
Butt-munch cookies? If they are flavored with Dan Futterman's ass, I'll take two dozen.
Guess what? Dreams really do come true... if your dreams involve marzipan and ice cream... maybe it was the wine (or whatever) but I was taken back in time to a small bakery near the coast of California...

For me, there is only one marzipan. I visited the main shop in Lübeck, Germany. The marzipan sculptures in the window alone are breathtaking.
Niederegger Marzipan
SOmeone gave me a poppy seed swirl. Delicious. I didn't think I would like it this much.
You know, you should change the title of this thread since we found out this week that Hershey uses child slave labor to harvest their beans...
Nah... It still doesn't take away the fact that it was delicious. Hey Diva.. where are MY cookies?
Since you never answer your phone when I call, how was I supposed to get your address?
:P
Come to Oil Cans tomorrow night. And there better be cookies.
Oil Can's?!
Ew...
Spent five hours last night making cookies. I did classic milk chocolate chip but then added quartered Reese's mini peanut butter cups. The peanut butter mixed in and they turned out so yummeh! I also made iced sugar cookies... on sticks.
To start the weekend.
This thread has unfortunately become like a daily journal kind of thing.
I have been doing tons of cardio. But I can't stop eating. This is what is left and next to go.
Hands off your nuts!
This was my entire weekend.
