WOW! Just finished it.
Seriously, Susan is boinking Brian Kinney now?
I loved Gabby all dowdy with chubby kids. Too cute.
DAMMIT! It's going to be a long summer.
I know. That was weird seeing Brian from QAF. My guess is, Mike dies.
Tonight's episode was the best one this entire season, which has been very very weak. I don't think the next season isn't gonna start off 5 years later.. It's hard to imagine Bree as a high-powered author throughout the show. It would be interesting to watch though.
I hope they don't really continue the show five years later. That was a little silly. And Gale Harold kissing women is just too weird for me. I know he's an actor and all, but he'll always be Brian to me.
The 5 year jump is permanent. Check the link I posted in this thread.
What a great idea, I hope it works.
I didn't like the ending with Susan, I thought Teri Hatcher had such chemistry with James Denton and their relationship was becoming pretty great.
Props to Marc Cherry, he took a page from the LOST book and applied it to great results. The ending was fantastic.
I am thrilled beyond belief that Dana Delany will be part of the main housewives next season, her character is far more interesting than Edie and her talents are incomparable.
I love Dana Delany! She's so great on the show.
I guess I didn't think this was as great as everyone else did. I mean it had its moments (Tom catching Kayle and also what he said to the couple).
But the Katherine story seemed rushed and had so many holes in it. I wonder if they were originally planning to make it last longer, then decided to do five years later and rushed this into one episode. I like her a lot and wish the story was not so rushed.
When this show started I always felt like Lynette was the 'odd man out' because the others, especially Gabby, looked so glamourous and she always looked so dowdy and careworn. Now she's got the glam and Gabby looks just like she did at the beginning! Too, too funny!
I'm also sorry to see Mike go. I have a vague recollection of an interview with him when he reminded the interviewer that the show was called "Desperate HouseWIVES", not HUSBANDS, and that all the men on the show knew they were there on a day to day basis at best. I am delighted to see that Tom and Orson are there, but I was a little concerned that I didn't see Carlos. I hope that was just an oversight. I am THRILLED to see Dana Delaney at that table - she's a perfect addition to the group!
Next season can't get here fast enough!

Solid episode, though I found the wrap up with Katherine and Dylan to be a bit tooooo out there, even for this show. And a bit too reminiscent of the Mary Ellen storyline with the buried child from the first year. (Why, in the end, did Mary Ellen kill herself? I forget.)
Loved how they wrapped up the Kayla/Lynette storyline, but I think it's about time they stop dumping on Lynette. 5 kids, cancer, and then to arrest her for child abuse? Give this woman something to live for.
I had no problems with the gay wedding, but would have found it more entertaining if the characters had been seen in recent weeks. I had all but forgotten they existed, surprising considering the hubbub of "A GAY COUPLE IS MOVING TO WYSTERIA LANE!" earlier this year.
I am hoping they go 5 years back, and work up to how and way what we saw 5 years out came to be.
SPOILER
Gabby, run down, with two fat girls was just NOT pretty!

Wasn't it just a cook book?

I think the resolution of the storylines may have seemed rushed because of the writer's strike, but I'll tell you what, I think I stopped watched this in October or so, but there was very little I couldn't follow last night. I thought it was obvious from day one that Dylan wasn't the Dylan Katherine has borne, so I was glad I didn't watch the months in between to figure it out.
The end result with Kayla seemed pretty inevitable, too. This season blew, although I was glad I watched the finale last night.
I always forget about Orson hitting Mike with his car way back when; is that what he and Bree were feuding over?
My guess is that the five year jump helps to gloss over a lot of storylines that were just going nowhere or in the wrong direction.
After your recommendations I watched the finale last night, and it really was good.
I might have to watch next season.
I can't see Gale Harold and not think Brian Kinney. It's unusual to see him kissing women. I literally went, Brian's a breeder!
I loved Gabby's chubby daughter. What a cutie.
Had to downlaod it (as here in the UK we are only at the tornado episode) and my god that was amazing
this show is so on form it has to be one of the best ones around. It's unusual for a series to be at season 4 and as strong as ever (minus the little season 2 bump lol)

LOVED it. I'm going to have to watch it again.

Gabby's cute 'Teresa Turnblad' Daughter
and just beacuse...
That article was interesting ... would be fun to see Mary Alice in the show.
Yeah, when the rumor leaked that the series would be having some kind of time jump, I was hoping they would go back in time so Mary Alice could be part of the show.
Either way, I felt like the Dylan storyline was sort of blah but Dana Delany added so much to it that I didn't care much. I loved this season, actually, but of course it was bound to sort of be rushed due to the strike.
I wonder what they wanted to do with the gay couple, at first I thought they might be part of Dana Delany's character's mystery, but they did away with that rather quickly.
And Yankee, I agree with you, they need to give poor Lynette a break. I used to love her storylines, thought they were hilarious, now (and I feel since Felicity Huffman was lauded as the best actress they had on the show) she gets all these annoying heavily dramatic storylines. I always hated Kayla though, so I'm glad they sent her away.
That fallen dresser scene was DISTURBING! And I was surprised they didn't dwell on it more. That was the part that felt rushed to me.

I watched the first season of this, and then I lost interest because it got popular and started getting absolutely absurd.
If they did a jump back to a time period before the first season's time period, I'd probably watch because I'd be able to follow it again.
Yeah, I felt like they could have taken a little more time with Katherine's story about Dylan's death.
It was the season's big mystery and it seemed a little rushed.
But the rest of the show, I thought, was really well-paced and smart.

I just finished watching it. Oh My God! The ending.... Susan.... what?
GAH!
Gah Mr. Cherry go back in time I want more background on Mary Alice!!
I love the comment on the Teresea Turnblad, very funny!
But agree with everyone, it is going to be a very long summer, especially after the season finale of Ugly Betty.
My guess is they left Carlos out so they wouldn't reveal whether or not he gets his sight back...
The Dylan/Katherine storyline was too pat for me. Adam, beaten within an inch of his life, easily takes down a cop loaded with adrenaline? A girl who was in an orphanage, speaking another language (remember, it was in Romania), doesn't REMEMBER BEING THERE AT ALL? It's not like she was a baby - she was easily four or five years old! All just a little too convenient.
The jump was ripped from Lost, but I hope it injects something new into the series...
