I adore Tina! She's the real thing but facewise, no. She had work!

I am sorry but I find that the constantly starting shows late is disrespectful to your audience no matter who you are. If the ticket says 8 or 9 o'clock that is when the concert is supposed to begin. To habitually start late sort of shows distain for those who have paid to see you.
You can be damned sure if you kept Madonna waiting for 90 minutes your ass would be grass!

I agree. I guess they want to crowd to work up to a fever pitch.

"Show started at 9:40pm"

And you were still there?

I would have been LONG gone - with a refund in my pocket, and a WHOLE lot of angry echoing in the corridors.

Oh god who cares what time it starts, its a pop concert, let your hair down and soak up the atmosphere.

She came on late here at Wembley Stadium but that was because they were trying to sort out the sound problems.I didn't mind she came on late, we got chatting to loads of people, had some drinks and soaked it all up...it was amazing looking around to see 80.000 people in that huge stadium waiting for madge to come on.

Oh and the person who said he saw some pictures and the show looked cobbled together, well im sorry but that has to be one of the most ridiculous things ive read in a long time

Cobbled together?

Like her or not you can't say the show was cobbled together. Technically the show was amazing...like all her shows.

Namo...let's get tickets for Atlantic City and go see her together. I think you would be surprised..this show really seemed like a return to form for her. And then I'll buy you funnel cake on the boardwalk.

"Oh god who cares what time it starts, its a pop concert, let your hair down and soak up the atmosphere."

People who have to go to work the next day care. People who have to catch trains that stop running at certain hours care (and may have to leave the concert early to catch said trains because the artist deigned to start so late). People who may have babysitters care. Lots of people care for lots of different reasons. A concert may not start right on the dot, and sound problems are another story, but to leave a crowd waiting for 90 minutes just because you feel like it is bullsh-t.

Well your going to a concert, nearly every concert i have been to has started late, artists decided to come on late, tech problems happen etc, you have to be ready for these things.Me and my fella made sure we booked the next day off work, we had enough money with us to get lots of drinks, and we drove to London from Manchester booking a cheap car parking space early on so we would not have to rely on Tubes etc if the concert ran over

Oh, I realize most shows don't start on time...realistically I'd never expect that. But it's not unreasonable for people to become upset if they have to wait for an hour and a half.

I'm glad you enjoyed the concert.

I said i thought the show looked cobbled together based on the photographs that i've seen. And i stand by that statement.

Now, I've seen her last three shows multiple times, and never have I thought this.

I also have die-hard Madonna fan friends, who after Sunday's show, said for a Madonna show, it was unimpressive.

I'm glad i didn't pay to see this one. I hope to not be able to say that for the next tour.

I thought this show was better then her last couple because it was FUN. I didn't feel like she was preaching at me. For the first time in several Madonna concerts...I didn't sit down once.

Love4Cheno im sorry but for anyone to even try and form an opinion on a LIVE pop concert based on pictures is just silly

Also i thought you said your friends who watched the show liked it, in fact you said.....
"However, I do have friends who felt the same way, but had a blast at the show"

Yet you have just said your friends who watched the show said ..

"for a Madonna show, it was unimpressive."

songanddanceman2 - it IS quite possible that I have more than ONE friend. As in, some friends who went to one show, and others who went to another. And came out with differing opinions.

Regarding forming an opinion on a LIVE pop concert based on pictures being "silly" - have you ANY idea how important visuals are, and in fact that Madonna has based her ENTIRE career on them??? (Sure, catchy pop songs don't hurt, but MTV really gave her a platform).

One of the things I enjoyed so much about "Confessions" was the lighting (purples, silvers) and costuming. Strictly visual aspects that completely translated in the photos - and added to my excitement about the show.

I stand by what I said, regardless of what an overzealous Madonna fan may think.

I think that NO picture or even video can capture correctly a LIVE event, especially such a visual show, but I respect your opinion !

Of course its about Image but you cant look at a picture and decide if the concert looks any good or thrown together or not.

And the lighting for Sticky and Sweet was incredible, but a picture wouldnt tell you that

Writer Joan Anderman nails the exact moment when I went from being a huge Madonna fan to actively loathing her, and it all started when she threw the car in reverse and plopped out "Confessions...".

Namo, that was a great read. It seemed to ask a number of interesting, legitimate questions. I am glad it seemed to acknowledge the double standard of it all. I mean, it doesn't seem like people are waxing eloquent on these issues regarding Mick Jagger, David Bowie, or Elton John. Certainly not with the same veracity.

In response to that article, I'll say that my favorite parts of Sticky and Sweet weren't the "high energy" parts. It was the music. Just her singing. Or her and the guitar. Or the parts that seemed to be telling a story--one reason I loved Blonde Ambition. When the lights and video created theatre, I was transfixed. When it was your standard concert spectacle, it was fun but not always gratifying. But I felt this way with Timberlake and Aguilera, who both gave terrific concerts last year.

Madonna would prob benefit artistically if she could no longer sell out stadiums. She could stick to Roseland and Webster Hall and the music. And I would love that.
