Richard Gere's repeated kisses on the cheeks of Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty in an event to promote AIDS awareness sparked protests in India on Monday with demonstrators burning effigies of the actors.
Groups of men burned and kicked effigies of the actors in protests across India, including in the northern Indian cities of New Delhi, Kanpur, Meerut and Varanasi as well as in the central city of Indore. Some called for the actors' deaths. Others wanted public apologies.
Put him to death. THEN he'll apologise!

This is why. I understand the desire to have people respect one's culture, but the girl herself isn't even upset. Where's the problem?

I thought that it said Idina too.
I think that India is being a little extreme. But I guess it depends on your culture. While lots of people think this is over reacting, other people in other cultures might not think of this as over reacting.
Q:What advice do you have for aspiring Broadway stars who are terminally shy? I love your work, because you seem so bold. How do you do it?
A:"I think I take more chances on stage then I do in real life but you can't learn anything if you don't challenge yourself. And don't say "terminally". If you love to perform then you have no choice, just keep training and focus on the words or the music whenever you find yourself slipping back inside yourself.
