The Pirate Queen got none at all? Wow. I would have thought it would have gotten sympathy nom at least. No such luck o' the Irish, then.
Like, Oh Emm Gee, I'm so sorry for Steph, you know, she like, toughed my fingertip at the stage door, and I totally knew right then that she was saying 'I'm gonna win it for you'. No nom is like, anti-wickedness. That's it!
some surprises:
No Hugh Dancy
No Ashley whatever from Mary Poppins
No Marian Seldes
sorry vm..nothing for Pirate Queen..poor Steph..I'd rather see her than Laura Bell nominated.
Shocked, SHOCKED about Chenoweth! That really isn't right.
Pretty surprised about Jon Groff, but thrilled that John Gallagher got a nomination.
I'm definetly surprised that D'Amboise got a nomination, because most of the people I know who saw A Chorus Line hated her as Cassie. Granted a lot of them were big Chorus Line queens...
Pirate Queen getting no nominations was a little surprising, if not unwarranted. Looks like The Hilton might be opening up soon... Linnie, it's totally a prejudice against the Irish, to which I say, can you blame them?

It's not that I have any affiliation with the show, it's just for the sake of it being Irish (cheesily, but still) and Boublil & Schoenberg that I'm a bit disappointed. I'm not surprised that it didn't get a nom for the creative or production side of things, after what I saw in the videos, but perhaps the performmances might have gotten one, I thought. And how often do you see Irish dancing on Broadway?

And Actr, I'm sure those Irish 'uns in PQ won't mind. Knowing that lot, they're probably already drunk and don't care. It's already after 9.
They're all the same, them Irish!
Actr..I agree totally..Chenoweth so deserved a Tony nod for The Apple Tree..I thought it was one of finest performances !!! She was so in her element in that show.
*edited for spelling*
There was Riverdance Linnie.
Cheno was Cheno though. There was nothing new in her performance.
I'm surprised Bundy got a nod however.
Tazzy, don't let me wrestle you..on 2nd thought..let's wrestle.

I know Riverdance, but it's not that usual, still.
Same producers though.
Riverdance is a weird kind of spectacle. It was born out of an 8 minute interval act at the Eurovision in Dublin in '94. Quite a story.
Linnie, part of being nominated for Best Choreography should be about the integration of the choreography. I haven't seen Pirate Queen, thank God, but from what I gather the step-dancing looks like it is there less for plot reasons than for bringing in the Riverdance crowd.
Boobs, I'm not one to piss and moan about these things, but Chenoweth was robbed. Bundy and Monk (sorry Rath) didn't get reviews anywhere close to the raves for Chenoweth. She dominated that stage. She glowed. That production WAS Kristin Chenoweth. When I saw that show, I finally understood why she is one of the finest musical theater stars of our time.
Actr..I totally agree with you about Chenoweth....I always liked her, but this performance made me walk out of the theater loving her...she so deserved a nod from the Tony's..BTW...I'm gonna pretend that Laura Bell isn't even on that list.

I predict Cheno wins Best Actress as a late entry. I'll bet on it...
You mean as a write in Linnie?
I was just over on the main board, and as expected people are hating on each other.
Lots of Poppins hate. But really, that last slot was between LB and Poppins and the latter got much better reviews.
I was just going to say that, Taz. Cheno will win on the BWW write in vote...
BTW, you're brave Taz. I'm not going near the main board today.
