No getting around the fact: Diana rocked tonight. She found her metier in disco, and selected perfect songs for her range and sensibility. Simon nailed her progress, and it was apt. (Wouldn't Jennifer Hudson be great with RAINING MEN???)
So to jump ahead, could it be Diana vs. one of the two divas? Yes, it could.
(But wasn't Donna a bit reserved about 'em all?)

Diana rocked tonight! I agree with Simon's critique that she demonstrated great control on a difficult song 'Enough is Enough". She has great momentum right now. Fantasia and Latoya were both good. Latoya's nailed her second song - "Don't Leave Me This Way". And, yes it's time to say "aloha" to the lovely Jasmine.

I felt bad that Jasmine was so upset after her second critique, but she is definitely out of her league. Sweet Georgia girl Diana was rockin', but I still think that she is not as seasoned at La Toya and Fantasia.
I am still on the fence as to my pick for the winner. Definitely think that La Toya has the better, smoother voice, glorious. Love the passion and edge of Fantasia.
We'll see!

I think last night was the best Diana has been. But she still performs AT an audience. I think that's why her Enough is Enough was so good because the only way to do that song is to sing at the audience. Fantasia really attacks a song but she is still performing FOR an audience.

Okay -- someone needs to explain this one? Does anyone really think LaToya was the worst??

Worst, Schmorst. It has nothing to do with it. It's all in who dials -- or TEXT MESSAGES (whatever...) -- and votes for which warbler.

Yup. I really don't think race had much to do with it either. I can be a big ol' conspiarcy theorist, but in this case, it's just who get more little kids to call in.

I think race is a factor in how people vote. It's not like people are saying "Oh, I hate blacks/whites/asians etc so I wont vote for them" but people are naturally actracted to those that are similar to them. Thus, most white audience members (especially those young and impressionable ones) will identify with the white singers and the same with asians, blacks, hispanics, etc. They tried to say something about how the show is watched in more black households than whites as a percentage, but I'm sure as a whole more non-blacks are watching because black people don't even make up a large percent of the country. And a lot of black poeple that I know that watch the show don't vote. Some say because they think the show is fixed/racist/biased whatever...So, I just wanted to shoot that theory down.
But, for those who don't believe race isn't and issue in this, all you have to do is go over to the american idol message boards and see all the hate folks have been spewing at many of the contestants based on racial and cultural diffrences. The show is definitly not based on talent at this point so, I think factors like "hotness" lol, race, gender, background all play a factor. Yes, people say talent is subjective but that girl Jasmine has never stayed in pitch for an entire song. How was she in the top 2 on Wednesday night?

"They tried to say something about how the show is watched in more black households than whites as a percentage, but I'm sure as a whole more non-blacks are watching because black people don't even make up a large percent of the country. "
Huh?
What does comparing the number of households watching the show have to do with the rest of the population? The numbers are that of households watching 'American Idol' more of those households are black families than white.
Whether or not they're voting is another matter. But the statistic comes from the 'American Idol' viewing audience, not the population as a whole.

I did go. We had pink signs saying Latoya Rocks. We didn't have the great seats we had last year so if you have tivo and freeze frame right after Fantasia sings" I need a hero", you will see me sitting down with my sign. Last year I was seated right behind the judges so I was there in all my glory. We went last year the day Clay sang Solitaire. I got my picture taken with the judges and Neil Sedaka. By the way; Latoya sounded the best in person. But Diana surprised me the most. I was never impressed with her on TV . But in person she rocked.

Dame, it is you who rock.
You should post your pic with the judges as your icon. Or just a body part like the rest of us.

Here's what the webpage says about tomorrow night:
"They've come this far. But who has what it takes to go all the way? We may learn Tuesday night when the ladies each sing three songs, one that they chose, one that the judges chose and one that music industry giant Clive Davis chooses for them. There's more pressure than ever riding on each performance!"
The news is full of stories of vote tampering and rigging. This show might be doomed.

Did Hawaii Do In "Idol" London?

For La Toya London, aloha may well have meant goodbye.
The mainlander was the odd diva out on Wednesday's American Idol, one night after Hawaii residents lit up the phone lines and seemingly helped island native Jasmine Trias, left in tears following shaky performances this week, emerge as one of two top vote-getters in the Fox singing competition.
The ouster of London, generally regarded, by the judges anyway, as the best vocalist among the Idol finalists, was called "a travesty" by panelist Randy Jackson, who must have been really upset because he usually just says "yo, yo, yo" and "dawg."
Fellow judge Simon Cowell quickly seized up Hawaii as a suspect in London's demise. "I think, Jasmine, you have a lot of thank-you letters to write to Hawaii," he said on Wednesday's show.
Indeed, Hawaii residents attempted a record 5 million cellular and landline calls (read: votes) following Tuesday night's Idol, said Kevin Laverty, spokesman for Verizon, the Aloha state's main phone-service provider.
Of those, 1.3 million calls got through--another record, Laverty said.
Per the U.S. Census Bureau, Hawaii's total population, as of 2002, was 1.2 million.
By comparison, Verizon-served New Jersey (population: 8.6 million) got 1.2 million Idol calls completed on Tuesday night, Laverty said.
"They're leveraging their influence," Laverty said of the show's Hawaiian fan base. "If you talk to the people there, it's a phenomenon. People are there watching the TV and voting for the home girl."
Homegirl Trias, 17, was due back in Hawaii on Thursday to film an Idol segment and do a meet-and-greet with Lieutenant Governor Duke Aiona, per the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.
London, meanwhile, was to do a stopover on On Air with Ryan Seacrest.
