I think artist is a loose term and a topic for a whole other thread. I think "art" or "artist" is determined by who is viewing. Munk might not think Jessica is an artist, while Muscle does. I think people who "produce" are artists. It is then given to the masses to debate the validity of the work. Being an "artist" doesnt hold value in and of itself. Jessica, IMO, is an artist on the fact the she produces creative work. Whether she is good or bad, inspired or not, is what it seems has been going back and forth on here.

Jessica not only sang in the record, she excecutive produced it and wrote most of the songs. Just a thing I wanted to add.

A Public Affair is a disco-studded, stunningly entertaining, 13-song slab of energetic white-girl pop. From the summer-fizzy first song and title track--which lifts, improbably, from both Madonna and the Supremes--Simpson tears out of the gate refusing to fall back on stale-sounding power ballads, something of a signature in the past. "You Spin Me Round" updates the Dead or Alive '80s hit; the vampy and innovative "B.O.Y." borrows from a vintage Cars track; and "Walkin' 'Round in a Circle," about as sleepy a track as you'll find here, seems to put a kind of pop spit-shine on a tune both Stevie Nicks and Ryan Adams popularized. Later tracks, including the excellent Louis Prima-inspired "Swing with Me" and the shockingly urban-sounding "Fired Up," bring Simpson's inner femme fatale to the fore. Let's hope it doesn't slink away anytime soon--other Simpson discs have been forgettable, but this is an affair to remember. --Tammy La Gorce

The correct spelling is "inaccurate", but anyways, they are a lot more accurate than mine, or any other amateur-ish review from any BWW user.

This is not directed towards Jessica's cd, since I haven't heard it yet. But, there are numerous times that the amazon reviewer said a cd was horrible, when I thought it was amazing . . . and vice versa.

Oh darling, there is always people that disagree, it is just a critic, a human being like you and I. Anyways...I obviously agree with this review, that's why I posted. You can always disagree with Amazon, Ebay, Yahoo, The New York Times or The Post or anyone!
The same thing happens with friends, I had a friend telling me to see "Slava's Snowshow" and I hated it, the same about the movie "Jersey Girl" recently, ugh.

haha. Very true! I refuse to see "Jersey Girl" because I am a HUGE Kevin Smith fan, and I don't want anything to ruin that.

I also want to state that although I am a fan of Jessica Simpson's singing, her movie "The Dukes of Hazzard" was trash, and it was # 1 in America. I hated it. Ugh. Her role was non-existant, so I can't even judge her as an actress.

I didn't see Dukes of Hazzard but, Jessica Simppson is a teribble actress. I was watching her guest spots on That 70's Show and she was teribble. She has a great voice. She should do some decent songs instead of what's on A Public Affair. In This Skin was her best album. If she would keep doing stuff like that, I would like her a lot more.
