I apologize, I'm totally bumping this from a long time ago, but I'm bored so I thought I'd respond to this haha
"Hanson for talent,
Jonas Bros for cuteness,
so it depends what you are looking for."
wait but are we talking Hanson back THEN, or Hanson NOW (in terms of looks)? Because..
I have to say, maybe it's my bias but I think they're much better looking than the Jonas Brothers. haha. Back then? Ok, I guess with the long blond hair and stuff.. and the fact that Ike was going through a major funny looking stage haha (he's quite handsome now, actually)
But yeah. I think they're extremely good looking. Except.. Zac either needs to cut his hair or always wear it back like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IICqR2L9qeE , because the hair's gotten TOO long in the past year :P

OH OH, I just have to post this, because it is epic, and proves why Hanson wins at life:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q7BNZj8fSP0
Yes, that's right. A completely impromptu performance of "Under the Sea"!!
Granted Ike clearly did not know the whole thing, but just the fact that he knew as much as he DID, and the fact that he did it WITH the accent, totally makes it one of the most awesome (or maybe "awesomely dorky" would be more fitting) things ever
So I decided to put my iPod on shuffle the other day instead of listening to one of the 3 or 4 OBCR's that I've been stuck on and "Madeline" (...by Hanson) came up. Well, now that's been in my head for the past 3 days! Redonk. I do like Hanson, though, I can't lie lol their Underneath and Middle of Nowhere Acoustic albums rock my socks.

^to this day, Madeline is STILL one of my all time favorite Hanson songs :) Especially hearing them do it now, the harmonies are just to die for
Does Hanson have any current projects or in the works?
The last time I saw them on TV was a re-run of MTV cribs.

^Oh man, they've had TONS of stuff since that time! haha. RIGHT at the moment they're kind of at an in between point because they just finished their latest tour in the fall, and now they're taking a break, hopefully working on getting music together for a new record, and stuff like that.
But basically over the last couple of years they've been promoting and touring for their CD that came out in the summer of '07, The Walk. They've also been doing lots of pretty awesome philanthropic work on fighting AIDS and poverty in Africa. It's kind of complicated, but basically they host 1 mile barefoot walks around whatever city they're in before every concert they do, and each walker registers at the end of the mile and $1 is donated per mile towards fighting AIDS/poverty in Africa. There's lots more to what they've been doing with all that, but it's so many different things and really complicated to explain, but basically they've raised QUITE a bit of money and resources, particularly for kids, in Africa.
So yeah, they've just been doing that for the last couple of years. I think the touring for The Walk has lasted a lot longer than tours for most albums, just because there's been the philanthropic effort too. I personally hope that even if they make a new album over the next year or so, that they continue with that, because it really is very cool. And I have a feeling they WILL continue. Maybe not with the walks, but with something to continue the fight in Africa. They seem very devoted to the cause :)

SO addicting.
It's currently unreleased (part of a Hanson.net membership kit for 200. I'm really hoping it'll be on the next album! Which.. it makes sense that it might be, because they've said that the next album would be a little more upbeat and fun seeing as The Walk was pretty heavy :)
how is this bumped up with no posts in the thread since January?
eerie!
what's that expression
six of one- half a dozen of another?
they're about the same thing..
At least none of the Hanson brothers has a unibrow.
The middle Hanson is in a band now called Tinted Windows.
Check out this bizarre lineup:
James Iha (formerly of Smashing Pumpkins)
Bun E. Carlos (of Cheap Trick)
Adam Schlesinger (of Fountains Of Wayne, and composer of Bway's Cry Baby)
And then Taylor Hanson.
I think there's no contest. The Hansons were cute, the Jonasses are ugly.

Really, degrassifan? *siiiiigh, grabs torch*
but really--the Hanson brothers--hands down. The Jonas brothers are not that attractive. The middle one used to be the most attractive, but then he got ugly a few months ago! Don't know what happened. The youngest one is the only attractive one left (and I'm pretty sure he's not even legal--so nevermind that!), but he only has a year or two left until he turns ugly too.
Hanson for the win!

Really, Parks. Haha
But seriously, I wasn't interested in Hanson when they were out. I remember girls in my class were obsessed like the way young girls are obsessed with the Jonas Brothers now. Also, MMMBop is the only song of theirs that I know.
As for the Jonas Brothers, they aren't the greatest musicians, but I did like their rendition of Poor Unfortunate Souls. And, (I know I'm most likely throwing myself in the Lion's Den when I write this) I support and respect their decision on waiting till marriage. I think the purity ring thing is pretty neat. I do, however, hate how they have their own show now.

Peter: If you could be stranded on a desert island with any woman in the world, who would it be?
Quagmire: Taylor Hanson.
Joe Swanson: Taylor Hanson is a guy.
Quagmire: [Laughs] You guys are yankin' me. "Hey, let's put one over on Quagmire."
Peter: No, he's actually a guy, Quagmire.
Quagmire: What? That's insane. That's impossible.
[Pause]
Quagmire: Oh God. Oh my God. I've got all these magazines. Oh God.
I like both of them. But I actually do prefer the Jonas Brothers. My older sister, who is 7 years older than me, was a die hard Hanson fan back in the day, when Hanson was starting out. She's 24 now (which makes me 17, for those who didn't do the math) & still loves them. I really like their music & have a lot of their songs. Their voices are still great, & they have good music. I just wasn't familiar with/didn't care about them when they were at their prime. I feel like the Jonas Brothers are the Hanson of this generation? The Hanson boys look much better now than they did when they were younger, in my opinion. I do think the Jonas Brothers are cute now. I like their catchy songs. I would have to give Nick some credit, he plays a handful of instruments & sings, as opposed to Joe who just sings & barely play the guitar & keyboard, & Kevin who plays the guitar but back up sings. He was in a few Broadway shows back when he was little. I saw them last month in concert, & I have to admit, I had fun. *Don't kill me!*
The Hansons had great hair and they knew how to work it.

Just to clarify, Hanson is still very much around and making music, and coming out with a new EP in the fall in fact But yes, Tinted Windows IS a little side project Taylor did with the other three aforementioned guys :)
Tinted Windows is actually more similar to Jonas Brothers stylistically, believe it or not.
Again, for those who only know Hanson for mmmbop, or haven't heard them in a long time, this is an idea of what they've actually sounded like for quite a while now:

but then here's Tinted Windows:

see? It's more power pop like Jonas Brothers, but um... better :)
Hanson..easily. The Jonas Brothers just need to go away

They still DO have great hair
They've each gone through some more questionable hair times, but they've also each had really great hair times too haha.
Zac has one of the most lush, thick heads of hair I've ever seen. His hair is amazing! And Tay's is sooooo soft-looking and purtiful
Well, I wasn't old enough (or a girl) to really get into the Hanson hysteria...but you can't deny that 'MMmm Bop' is in the pop song history books. Everyone knows it (and probably secretly likes it).
The Jonas Brothers have yet to deliver anything close to that.
Nick Jonas seems pretty talented, although his pathetic girly riffs are lame...and Joe Jonas is/was kind of the eye candy frontman. There is literally no point in Kevin Jonas, he is neither good looking, talented or remotely interesting and has the stage presence of a cabbage.
