I was surprised here in CT at my polling place there wasn't a line. I was in and out in about 5 minutes.

Curious about what you all are experiencing.

A friend of mine in CT said the same thing. He was kind of surprised. My mom usually works at one of the polling stations in CT, but I'm not sure if she's working this year.

I vote in Times Square. The polls opened at 6am so I thought it would be best to get there at 5am. I was the only person there for about 30 minutes until a couple others showed up and got in the makeshift line we started. They started a few minutes after 6 and I was out in 5 minutes. By that time there were *maybe* 30-40 people there in line. I was reeeeally surprised.

I've been in DC for 12 years and never had to wait long. That was until this year. I waited an hour and was in line 30 minutes before the polls opened.

I had a line that was about twenty minutes long, but some of my co-workers only had two or three people in front of them.

45 minutes for me. I was moved to a different polling place this year. In 2008, when turnout was huge, I only waited 10 minutes. I don't think you can tell much from this.

Suburbs of Buffalo. No line here. When I came out there were about 5 people in line.

I voted early in the Chicago burbs Saturday. No line.

This morning when I voted in Lakeview, there were about 10 people ahead of me. The Loop polling place was fairly empty at 10 and the Logan Square polling place I voted at just now had 5 or 6 people in line.

4 down 28 to go!

I just voted here in the suburbs of Los Angeles where the polls just opened about an hour and a half ago. There was a short line. I think I maybe waited about 15 or 20 minutes.

I'll be going under the wire tonight, so it should be empty -- small neighborhood in the East End of Pittsburgh.

Friends of mine in Manhattan all over seem to be waiting an hour or more, several of them not happy.

I do find it interesting when you read some of the stories online where people were waiting for several hours to vote. It will be interesting to see the voter turnout.

I'm travelling right now, so I voted absentee this election cycle (first time ever). Like Jordan, I vote in Times Square, so I was imagining long lines.

A friend of mine from grad school who now lives in Baton Rouge texted me at 7:15 this morning (6:15 CST)--the polls had been open for 15 minutes by that time (when she got on line), and the approximate wait was 3 hours.

Voted here in Louisville, KY around noon. Walked in and walked out in under two or three minutes. There were many people coming and going, but everything was flowing nicely. There were even two hot guys in line for some eye candy enjoyment.

It took me about 40 minutes at 8:30 this morning at the HS of Graphic Design. Upside? Lots of adorbs HK boys. And a nun! A voting nun!

When I left, the line was four times as long as it was when I got there.

Displaced Jersian here, and even though Christie opened up the absentee process, it isn't working for us. They said to email the ballot application and a ballot would be returned by email. We both did that yesterday and never received a return. I emailed again this morning and it was undeliverable because the inbox was full.

I didn't think it would work.

Doodle, that's frustrating! Is there anyone you can call? (I'm sure none of the lines are being monitored, though...)

I voted on the east side of midtown Manhattan. I waited about 45 minutes this morning, before work. The line looked to be 3 times as long when I was leaving the school.

For the most part it was organized, but, apparently they changed some voting district numbers this year, so people waited in the wrong lines for a bit. Most were patient, but some were very grumpy.

We use the paper ballots that are scanned (as we did in the last election), but a few old ladies were bitching about not being able to be in a voting booth with the levers and pull-handle.

Nothing seemed wrong. Just busy and a little disorganized.

"Two drifters off to see the world. There's such a lot of world to see. . ."

I was in an out in about 15 minutes but I told my workplace that there was a 2 hour wait so I could come in late as hell.

Went in about an hour ago in the Indy suburbs. (12:45) No line. In and out no problem.

I think it was a blustering by Christie trying to accomodate, but it's really just impossible. The system was not meant for millions to contact one person in one day. It's meant for those out of the country to contact them by mail over months.
