I'll watch the first episode, but if it looks like another blah season of nothing happening, I'll have to bail.

I'm not sure how Andrew Haigh went from the masterpiece that is Weekend to the tragic mess of Looking.

If only there were any good television being made these days. It's such a shame that you guys have to continue watching a show you clearly hate. Ahem.
I loved this episode almost as much as that "lost weekend" ep from season 1 in which Patrick and Richie went down the rabbit hole together. It was a great reintroduction to the boys and I liked that Haigh didn't try to update us on everything up front, but instead slowly revealed it throughout the ep.
I thought Haigh did an especially nice job with the dance in the middle of the forest. It was rather magical -- the way the camera slowly weaved through the crowd and touched briefly on our 4 main characters; getting to see Agustin step up and be a good friend by making sure that Patrick was okay; the sudden shirtlessness of Dom dancing with a stranger that you instantly knew he was going to ****, but without knowing if you were witnessing him cheating on Lynn or simply watching him explore an open relationship; Doris atop the shoulders of a substantial lesbian; and then that wonderful shot of Patrick's boy in the hat slinking toward him as their eyes locked. With the stranger shot from the back he resembled Richie, which added a touch of mystery to the moment. I dunno. That whole section cast a spell over me.
Oh, and, as per usual, MVP was Doris. So glad we get to see more of her this season.
PS - anyone know the disco song that was playing throughout most of the forest dance scene? Not the Antony & the Johnsons song that was playing as they entered, but the one that started at the moment Patrick felt the ecstasy kick in. It was just perfect for the moment. Forgot to check the credits before deleting the ep from my DVR.

That's some of the most cogent stuff I've seen either of you post.
"...everyone finally shut up, and the audience could enjoy the beginning of the Anatevka Pogram in peace."

The song playing as the boys and Doris walked into the party was: "Blind" Frank Knuckles Remix, by Hercules and Love Affair.

@ Kad: I want to burn your post.
I saw the season premiere and I liked it very, very much.
LOOKING forward to the rest of this season's episodes.
Yes, that pun was most certainly INTENDED.
