Honestly, Hurley is one of the only characters that I think will make it through the entire series. He is a fan favorite and there really wouldn't be a pointin him dying, while I have seen a point in everyone else who has died. He is also one to add a lot of comic relief so i just don't see him dying anytime soon

I'm in the minority here, but I thought this episode was a bit filler. I was a little disappointed. Although, it WAS funny, and the Sawyer, Hurley, Jin character interactions were fantastic. Some of the dialogue was the best ever on the show, but plot wise, it didn't do much for me. It was nice to see a non-Jack-centric episode though!

But I admit, I love the mystery/hatch/Others stuff, so this was a departure from what I've been most "into" with LOST. I need a Locke-centric episode (Locke's one of my favorite characters).

It was good to see Rousseau back, and Vincent (who is looking well-fed!)

I agree with catiesus - I think Hurley sticks around, as long as the actor wants to. Remember, Eko was a big fan favorite, and he's gone - primarily because the actor wanted to leave the show.

For me it was a relief to have at least some of the episode be upbeat. And I like Hurley and Jinn and Sun so much. But it is Sayid I really miss. I hear he gets more backstory before the season is over. And about time.

I agree, the last episode was mostly filler. Doesn't look like we'll get to see The Others again for awhile.

SPOILER SPOLILER

Just read on another site that Juliet will get another flashback, which will pick up right where the last one left off, so far it looks like it's going to be called "The Truth About Lying" and will air in April.

Any thoughts on the last episode?

I thought this episode was great. It had a lot of my favorite LOST things:

A Hatch
Others (Ms. Klugh and Patchy!)
Weird Dharma mysteries
Sayid-centric flashback

Here are my super-LOST questions for this week:

Are The Others and Dharma one and the same (I think they are)?, or...

Did The Others "purge" the Dharma people and take over the island? And if so, how did Desmond get to stay in the Swan? He's technically niether Dharma nor is he an Other as far as we know. or...

Did Dharma "purge" The Others and take over the island?

Is Rousseau an Other? Or Dharma? Or both if they are the same thing, which I think they are?

John must have had a clue that "Enter 77" would destroy, no?

Darn LOST!

I thought Sayid's flashback was very interesting. The lady was a bit haunting.

I liked this episode too! Another episode where a character's previous experience is drawn on to deal with events on the island. Just when you think you have a character's back story, they give you another flashback and you learn something new!

I still think there are two groups of "others". I think there is the "Ben and Company" group, and then a more "rustic" group. Whether or not some of them were part of Dharma is still to be seen.....obviously the had some sort of contact because the "others" are using all the Dharma equiptment and supplies. Which brings up the thought, if Dharma is no longer in control of the island, why are they still dropping food there?

However, Dharma must have known there was someone else on the island, because the computer was set for "the intruders" (I know that's not the real word, I forget what they called them) That makes me think that they've had some opposition since they came there. Plus, there were references to a group of people "who were here long before us". Somehow I think that's going to tie into that whole weird foot statue that we saw at the end of season 2.

OK...how stupid was Locke????? I just wanted to smack him. Yes, I know he had no idea that the place was wired for explosives....only Sayid and Kate had gone to the basement...but still........Did he not think there could be a problem?????

In response to previous episodes...I was sure that last week's episode was set up for Hurley to bite the dust. He seems to be coming to the realization that HE is not cursed, so I thought he was gone. However, there must be more to do with the numbers, and he hasn't resolved the whole Libby thing, so I guess we'll see more of Hurley. I love how he's so concerned with people's mental well being while they're on the island. Jack worries about their physical health. Jin, Sun, and Lock worry about their survival and food. But Hurley wants to make sure everyone is happy.

One question.....does Kate know that Jack is on "their" island? Or is she just looking for the "others" encampment in hopes that they'll take her to Jack?

I don't think Kate knows Jack is back on the main island yet - which raises the question, why are they looking for the barracks instead of going back to Alcatraz to get Jack? Do they need to find a new boat first (can't remember if Karl took the boat when he escaped)? If they think Jack is on Alcatraz, why don't they just go get him? That said, maybe she does know after all.

I thought it was interesting that the flashback was Sayid's (who is a former communications officer) and the hatch of this episode was the Dharma communication equipment station.

There is speculation that locke did the "Enter 77" on purpose.

Yeah, I think Locke knew (or at least had some suspicion about) what would happen if he pressed 77. I mean, it was pretty obvious that it would be a contingency plan of the "self-destruct" variety. Locke's not stupid. I think he did it on purpose.

Locke isn't stupid, but he is certainly set up to accept life on "blind faith". Since he thought the computer was set up for "good" there is some potential that he may have thought it would send an "emergency" signal to the mainland.

I stand corrected, you are as vapid as they say.

I agree. I think Locke thought that if he pressed 77 he'd initiate some sort of "rescue plan".

I didn't think Kate had any idea that Jack was on their island. I was thinking that she wanted to go find the compound that Karl had described to them so that they could get Jack back without going to "Alcatraz".

Yeah. I liked it. It felt like the Lost of Old, what with it being a flashback episode, but not every moment of the show being about the person in the flashbacks.

Also, Clair and Jack being siblings, wasn't a shock at all. They had already essenially told us that last season.

To be fair - they didn't REALLY tell us that last season -- all we got was Jack's Dad going to see a blonde woman in Australia and everyone guessed it was Claire's mom because that's the way this show works. Last night just confirmed the suspicion.

I liked the episode last night - but I got kind of annoyed that they cut off Mikhail's whole list speech - that was the most interesting part of the entire show! My guess is that Locke knows more than he's letting on - he knew EXACTLY what would happen when he pushed Mikhail through the perimeter -- he was trying to keep him quiet because he obviously knew SOMETHING about Locke which, lucky for Locke, Danielle had the perfect timing to squash any revelations.

The end was great - though my guess is Jack is just playing a role there - OR he's making the best of a bad situation - I don't believe he's been brainwashed or converted or anything.

It would be great if the end of the series came down to that bird saving them somehow - though based on the bottle and Desmond it seems more likely that the bird isn't really going anywhere...

I thought last night's episode was great. I know a lot of people already suspected that Claire and Jack were siblings, but it was nice to actually get the confirmation. The writers are capable of answering things after all!

My brother and I both laughed when Danielle interrupted Mikhail (is that his name?). He was totally going to say the "p" word (PARALYZED AHHH)!

I don't think that note is going to make it the whole trip. Seabirds land in water. That note was written in ink on a piece of paper. Common sense, people, common sense!

POSSIBLE SPOILER FOR NEXT WEEK...

Next week is apparently a Locke episode, and we're finally going to learn how he came to be paralyzed. I'm excited!

"Which brings up the thought, if Dharma is no longer in control of the island, why are they still dropping food there?"

Somebody asked me this the other day, and I argued that the food was being dropped to whoever was in the hatch. Even though it appears the Dharma initiative has been completely abandoned, somebody is obviously still making sure that that darn button is being pressed (the guys in the snow mountains, Penny)...after all, it is supposedly "saving the world," so maybe in some form some where, Dharma is still making sure that there is someone in the hatch pressing the button and that that person still receives food from Dharma.

As far as last night's episode---I thought it was the best in a long time! I LOVE it! Yes, we knew about Claire and Jack, but it was nice to have confirmation. Also, for a while it has seemed like they've forgotten that they are even lost and need to get saved, so it was nice to have the whole bird thing. Locke has become a big question mark---does he know things we don't? Is he the Locke we think he is? Or is he trying to ruin any progress towards getting off the island? (it seems clear that he wants to stay on the island?

And seeing Jack run towards them was so cool--I thought he saw them and was trying to escape.

Anyone watch last night? Fantastic Locke-centric episode.

Do not read further if you have not yet watched last night's episode. (SPOILER if you haven't watched yet!)

Is Locke's Dad the Man from Tallahassee? Furthermore, how the heck did Daddy Locke end up on the Island? Ben is creepier and creepier with every episode. Great character.

I've had a theory for awhile now and last nights episode made me even more certain that i am on the right track. I think Ben/the island has a connection with our thoughts. remember in season one when Walt had a comic book with a Polar bear on it and then we saw one on the island? Remember Jack seeing his dead father?Hurley and the guy who was with him the mental ward? Kate and the horse? Well, ben last night asked Locke how he felt. He didn't mean on a physical level but on an emotional level. Then all of a sudden the impossible occurs. Locke's dad appears behind the door. I think they can conjur up thoughts and make them as real as possible. I may be off but I think I am on the right path with this. Then again, as they have done so often, they could pull the rug out beneath me and go in a nother direction. I have a feeling that Sun may be working with the Others after seeing next week's preview.

I'm so glad we finally learned about Locke's paralysis. My brother and I would watch every Locke episode going, "Okay, now he gets hit by a car! No. Okay... now that guy shoots him! No... crap."

I'm thinking that Locke's con-man father is the real Sawyer. Anybody with me?
