I think one of the big questions is how did Juliet go from being so desperate to get off the island to being another of Ben's lackeys? I'm willing to bet that whatever they did to her, is what they did to Locke that convinced him to stay.
So, if they implanted somthing they could "activate" in Claire, think they did the same thing to Charlie?
And Ben can cure cancer????
I still really like Juliet too. Kinda because I feel for her and she kicks butt!
How can Ben cure cancer? That is so freaky!
Well, maybe that's why...Rose? Is that her name? Maybe that's why her cancer was cured.
But somehow he (or at least his knowledge) cured Juliet's sister and she's not on the island (unless that was all just a set up.....I don't trust anything that comes out of that man's mouth!)
Also...what does Juliet's story about the women on the island dying mean for Sun? Her baby wasn't concieved on the island, so is she OK? Obviously, both Rousseau and Claire were able to give birth.......
I didn't trust Juliet from the start. So what is she knew dirt about Sayid and Sawyer, they still have the right to interrogate her. I think she should be maimed.
Has anyone else noticed that Josh Holloway (Sawyer) has been sounding weird lately? Do you think thats something thats going to come into play with the show, or was he just getting over a cold during taping?
That was a freaking kickass episode!!
For the record Ben didn't say he would cure Juliet's sister's cancer. During the scene where Ben told Juliet her sister's cancer was back, Ben said that he would get Jacob to cure it - who that is, I don't know.
Also getting Juliet to infiltrate the camp seems like it must have something to do with Sun and her child.
I also loved this episode.
Everything about it just clicked and sparkled,
like the twist we all expected, I knew it was going to happen, but I didn't care, they had made me really like her character, and then *boom*
or was it, is she a double agent.
That is the kind of great tv this show is capable of.
Very happy.
I also am still a fan of Juliet. Have been from the start. When I saw her planning with Ben at the end I yelled "No!!" at the TV. I'm way too into this show.
I thought this was a great episode as well. Probably my favorite this season.

Some really neat stuff here.

Something I found pretty interesting.
The UMMO Mystery
Being a bit of a UFO nut myself I found that the symbol on the tree in One of Us very interesting. One of the most famous UFO stories is that of UMMO and the mysterious letters. Here is an extract from Wiki.
Ummo or Ummoism describes a series of decades-long claims that aliens from the planet Ummo were communicating with persons on the earth.
Most Ummo information was in the form of many detailed documents and letters sent to various esoteric groups or UFO enthusiasts. The Ummo affair called Ummoism was subject to much mainstream attention in France and Spain during the 1960's and 1970's, and a degree of interest remains regarding the subject.
General consensus is that the Ummoism was an elaborate hoax. The culprit (or culprits) is unknown, but a José Luis Jordán Peña has claimed responsibility for instigating the Ummoism.
However, some contend there may be at least a measure of truth in the matter, and there are a few small groups of devotees, such as "a strange Bolivian cult called the Daughters of Ummo". Another group, which claims a more scientific approach to the question of whether Ummo is a hoax or not, has set up a website in which one can find the materials on which is based the Ummo story, and some analysis of this documentation (ummo-sciences.org). One person of this group claims to have understood the fundamentals of the language of UMMO, which is present in the texts in the form of what we would call words or sometimes expressions . He contends that the structure of their language is inherently different from the structure of any language on Earth, and has published a book on the subject.
In the letters, the Ummites relate their story and claim to have landed on Earth in March 1950 in the southern French département of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, in the area of Digne-les-Bains. Reports mention three spacecraft with some explorers coming from their planet. They describe how they found our planet, their arrival on Earth, analysis of our habits, their language, and scientific descriptions of their activities.
The Ummites write that they first visited Earth in 1950 as a small group of scientist-explorers. Their goals were the study of our biosphere, atmosphere and culture. They explain how they discovered the Earth by chance, thanks to a Morse radio message sent by a Norwegian ship 15 years prior to their landing, and also describe scientific data from their planetary system, including its gravity, orbit, revolution period, sizes, and information about their star.
The Ummites were amazed, seeing our multi-cultural society, and also the social disorder so prevalent on Earth. They explain their civilization is older than ours, with appropriately advanced technology, and they will not disturb our social evolution.
Regardless of any ultimate explanation, the Ummoism is one of the most intriguing (and most detailed) UFO-related events in recent decades.

Also interesting is that the mark on the tree looks pretty darn close to the mark the Others put on Juliet's lower back.

Fantastic episode! Three cheers for LOST.
I still love Juliet as a character, but I love that she is still an Other. If she abandoned The Others for Jack and became a Lostie, her character would be kind of boring. The whole setup thing makes for a great story.
I wonder if the mark on Juliet's back is actually the result of an "implant" placed there - similar to Claire's? Maybe she has to do what they say, or they can activiate the implant and make her sick? Just a theory.
LOST is officially back. This is what always made LOST a great show, interesting character development, great contrast between flashbacks and present life, and a solid ending. These episode had that and a lot more.
This episode reminded me of some of the classic ALIAS episodes (another J.J. show). The scene between Juliet and Ben in the kitchen was brilliantly done by the two actors, I flinched when she slapped the glass out of his hands.
Great episode, we got some answers, it was rather fascinating to watch.
All those nay-sayers complaining the show lost its way - oh, the rewards of being faithful! I never wavered, never doubted - and it's paying off huge! I don't want all the answers until the distant series finale, but no one can complain that answers weren't provided in this episode!
So, I was thinking. We have a Jacob being mentioned. Jack's wife is Sarah. Isaac was the faith healer dude Rose went to. Benjamin is...well, Ben. Rachel is Juliet's sister... This can't all be a coincidence, can it?
Where's Abraham?
Where's Abraham?

I don't think so. I mean anything is possible but I'd be VERY surprised. Claire has no mark, I believe the implant was injected into her. Juliet's mark looks more like it was imprinted on her with a hot iron.

On the Old Testament names front..there's also Aaron.
I loved this episode. My favorite this season so far. The preview for next week looks good too.
What I want to know is - why infiltrate the Lostie camp? What's there that they need to know that's going to take a week? I mean, if they want to take Sun or something, we know they know that they can find her and grab her the way they have with other Losties.
Now, when do we get a Ben flashback? That would be good!

I think that Julliet is actually playing Ben. I just don't feel like she's going to turn out to be the bad guy because the producers still want us to like her. Her backstory with her sister's cancer, and how Julliet was portrayed as a victim means that we should have some sympathy with her. I love Julliet and I still think she's a really likeable character.
The ending of this past episode was amazing. So well done.

That site that romantico posted is great. I love what some people said about the submarine just being a prop, and them bringing Juliet to the island some other way. Why did she need to be drugged and strapped down to a cot while those other two guys were happily sitting at a table drinking coffee?
"Now, when do we get a Ben flashback? That would be good!"
Be patient, it's coming... :)
Sorry, guys, but I cant agree that "LOST is back". It's getting annoying and self-congratulatorily obtuse. We werent fifteen minutes into watching when Scott said to me, "She's still working for them"... and trust me, if my husband can see it telegraphed that quickly, *anyone* can.
I loved this show for the first two seasons, and I wondered what they would do in the third to top it. Thus far, I'm pretty unimpressed. Instead of a mystery wrapped in an enigma, it's becoming pedestrian.
after reading the article in EW of how the producers are responding to the fans' every whim (i.e. killing off the new castaways) and that the reason we don't see rose and bernard (and others) is that because they are good actors and since the show cannot keep them busy, they go off to do other projects and are never (or barely) heard of again.
who's running the show over there? think things through fellas. put actors on a contract or wrap up a storyline more than once every three years. at this point even with the good episodes of last, and this, week, it may be too little, too late for me.
I think that is one of the major mistakes of Lost, you can tell they move from one storyline to the other, sometimes dropping them. J.J. Abrams did the same with ALIAS, many times! I was wondering where Rose and Bernard were, they even got their own flashback once, I figured they were somewhat important.
Yes, they do make mistakes. No, I don't think they really think everything through (In Alias Lena Olin's character was killed off at one point when she decided she was going to live permanently in New York, then she decided to return for the show for a few episodes so they created a storyline about her not being REALLY killed), so yes there are some mistakes with the show but that's the nature of a long-running series though. The actors are going to get tired, the network and advertisers are going to influence the story, some writers may get fired, we don't know all the backstage drama involved.
Right now I'm glad that the show is going back to what made it appealing. I think they've done a great job with the past two or three episodes and I'm sure it'll only get better.
I miss this thread and reading all the interesting comments/theories!
Did anyone see Wednesday's episode that eluded to everyone on the island being DEAD????? (The injured woman who arrived via helicopter/parachute said there had been no survivors on flight 815). That was one of my crazy theories back in season 1.
And what is going on with Juliette?? Is she going to double-cross Ben? ("I hate you")
