Being kind to the children she inspires? How dare she?
Was that to me?
I love that video. Gaga has such a good heart, it's clear.

No, it was to the people who find something to rip her to shreds for in everything she does.

I have to admit, I was slow to hop on the Lady Gaga bandwangon but after being lucky enough to see the Monster Ball in Atlantic City last night I'm a full fledged little monster. I was amazed at how powerful her voice is!
And the whole message of the tour is so positive I still can't imagine why anyone would have a problem with it no matter what her motive are. To see the way those kids on the floor (who waited outside Boardwalk Hall in a wind/sand storm for over 5 hours)lit up when she sung Born This Way was worth the price of admission alone.

Somebody named "HansMadison" gave "Born This Way" five stars on iTunes and then wrote: "She never fails to disappoint. Absolutely amazing."

Erik, I also saw the Monster Ball last night and absolutely agree with everything you posted. It was just a thrilling night, and her message is phenomenal. She's just a great performer- I'm so glad I got to go!
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

So what was up with the "costume" she wore in AC? Saw something on the news about it. They say it offended some people. Something to do with a nun habit. She also talked about her drunk diet. She drinks to lose weight and works while hung over. That's a really good message to send out. Her boyfriend has written a book on this form of dieting.

It was the same costume she's been wearing since the tour began over a year ago. She didn't say anything about a drunk diet.

The drunk diet was talked about in an interview she did recently and CNN ran it this morning.

I guess I find her joking around about being on a drunk diet and wearing a futuristic nun outfit less offensinve than telling kids they are going to go to hell if they are gay. If I was a parent I would be much happier if my kids role model was Lady Gaga than the pope.

She didn't seem to be joking about the drunk diet. She talked about the weight she lost while on it. Here is what she said.
My mistake, she works out while hung over:
"The flamboyant performance artist also revealed her secret for staying so thin, and how she gets her creative juices flowing.
"I am on the drunk diet," she told Sirius XM radio on Friday.
"I live my life as I want to, creatively. I like to drink whiskey and stuff while I am working. But the deal is I've got to work out every day, and I work out hung over if I am hung over. And it's about the cross-training and keeping yourself inspired. I have to say, I do a ton of yoga," she added.
The singer said in a television interview last weekend that she also smoked marijuana while writing her songs."

She said that on 60 minutes last week. No surprise there.

Eh. It started off fun, like a bad sci fi B movie, but once the songs started I lost interest.

I really did not think B-grade sci-fi (or in the same vein as 'Telephone' as an ode the exploitation genre) in the video. Using the score of Vertigo, visuals of German expressionism, and the unicorn from Blade Runner seemed like something with more grandeur. I liked it.

When I first sat down to watch the video I was literally shaking with anticipation. Immediately after it was over, I was stunned and looking for words to describe what I had just seen. I didn't know what to think, but I knew it had affected on numerous levels.
Having watched it several more times, and given it time to sink in, I'm convinced it's one of the best videos I've seen in a long, long time. I love that she's bringing exemplary artistry and showmanship back to pop music.

Wow, that was a beautiful video.
I've kept quiet about Gaga on these boards because I wasn't sure how everyone felt about her, but screw it: she amazes me.
As with Madonna or Michael Jackson, Gaga has enforced the artist's responsibility to transport their fans to another world. Artists like her remind us all of our expressive, visionary aspirations. People have their criticisms, but I look at all the amazing things this 24 year-old woman has done already and the bigger picture is that of a caring, responsible genius.
Whenever I have the pleasure of watching her work, be it live, in print, or on an awards show, I feel her lifeforce. I aspire to fully flesh out and realize my personal vision as she does. She has taken an ordinary life and created herself to be a living, breathing work of art. She is limitless, and my definition of inspiring. And she's been on the scene for two f ucking years! It is rare for me to feel this way about a commercial artist, but I am grateful to have her work and music in my life.
