The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou.

I thought it was fantastically cast and written. I really enjoy Wes Anderson and his movies, they never fail to make me laugh and cry all within the same couple of minutes. Anyone else enjoy this movie?

OMG!!! I LOVED this movie! Is it out on DVD? I saw it in the theatre around Christmas, and thought it was great. I liked it a whole lot more than The Royal Tennenbaums (which I did like, but I really loved Zissou...I wanna pick up the soundtrack one of these days!)

I know! I would think it should be coming out on DVD soon. I'd forgotten all about it. Consider my eyes peeled.

hehe, I am such a Wes Anderson fanatic. I think this was a totally underappreciated film. The special effects of the made up ocean life alone are worth the price of the DVD.
"The shark ate him." deadpan Murray and glorious.

I stand corrected, you are as vapid as they say.

I liked it a lot, too. I thought the subplot with the pirates drug things down a bit but I thought it still got a bit of a bum rap.

God forbid we watch a movie that doesn't madly run from plot point to plot point as quickly as possible.

I admit the Pirate thing was really weird, but in the end I think it fits the main theme. What in the world is real, is any of this? Is this all just in Bill Murray's head, some kind of elaborate fantasy he has made up to make himself into the great man he thinks he should be? I think the movie is working on so many themes it takes study of every scene just to start to "get it." Of course that's probably all crap. re: Just saw a wonderful movie, I'm sure there has been a thread about it t
I love how it develops so slowly, and of course the ultra slow timing of the jokes, there's nothing I like more than silent spots in my comedy.

I loved the nameless "unpaid interns," too!

Owen Wilson in a Speedo.
