I BAWLED as well! I was (am) devastated!
Next week is apparently going to be one of the craziest episodes of the entire series and features NO series regulars.
But the real question is whether or not LOST is ready for Allison Janney, who is guesting in a "major" and "integral" role next ep.
That was incredible television. Best Drama Series Emmy? I think so.
As for Allison Janney...ANY project is better off because of her presence. I'm so excited to see her next week.

I sure hope the Emmy committee realizes the final season has been much better than the inconsistent third season of Mad Men.
I could go on about all the Emmys the performers should be nominated for/win, but sadly, most of them will be wishful thinking.

DAMN YOU LOST!!!!!
four major deaths!!!! dammit!!!!!
I couldn't believe it, I can't believe it. Not Sun and Jin, not them, ugh! I had no idea about Allison Janney, I wonder if she is playing Smokey's "crazy" mother if she is indeed playing some sort of integral role, we'll see!

Are we finally getting our MIB/Jacob episode?
Oh man. I just found the promo on YouTube. WE TOTALLY ARE. I am so psyched.
Why do I think Locke having a pilot's liscence is gonna be something important? And Allison Janney is going to be awesome.
I hope Jin and Sun and Sayid have a happy ending in sideways world
I have a feeling Lapidus is not dead...don't know why
Is it bad that I was thinking, "Hm, didn't see Sayid's body - wonder if he's actually dead?" I mean, he BLEW UP, but that's what this show does to my head!
Do you think Locke going to finish what he started was referring to Jack and co. or to Desmond who, for all we know, is still stuck in that well?
They just announced the finale will be 2/1/2 hours, with a 2 hour lead up and hour on Jimmy Kimmel after!
Incredible episode. Can't wait for next week.
I think he was talking about Jack and company....I also thought that about Sayid as well. Do you think Sayid was faking it all along to get close to Locke in order to kill him? Or do you think Desmond asking him if Nadia would want him to kill him?
So happy about the extended finale
I'm still wondering about Sayid, but how could he have faked that? I mean, Jin could at least plausibly have jumped off the freighter -- how does Sayid escape a submarine???

Me too! Had no idea she was going to be on LOST until reading it in this thread.
OMG!! I was so upset to see Sun and Jin killed off! I mean, to reunite them after a year of being apart and then kill them off on the next episode? That was reaaaally cold. That whole sequence with them in the sub was really touching. I wasn't really broken up about Sayid's death, as he's been criminally underused this entire season.
One of the best episodes in the entire series IMO. And I'm very much looking forward to next week!
All I have to say is this: now that they've killed off Sun and Jin, they had BETTER get Desmond and Penny back together again.
I think Locke was referring to Jack & Co. He doesn't actually know that Desmond is still alive -- though he could always just not trust Sayid. Not trusting people seems to be his deal.
I can't see any way for Sayid to be alive. He was holding a bomb. I mean.
James, I was also pretty disappointed in how Sayid's been handled this season. And then his redemption happened in a such a split second, it's like it barely happened.
I'm confused, though.
Jack was saying not to pull the wires from the bomb, right? What, in his mind, would have happened?
I think Jack thought it would be like the dynamite in the Black Rock - when he and Richard watched the fuse just sputter out.
As for Sayid and Lapidus, I do believe they're dead, but I always wonder when we don't see the body (see: Jin on the freighter - never for a second believe he was actually dead). Jin and Sun are gone - no question. Terribly sad.
I think Jack was thinking that the bomb would just fail to detonate, sorta like the dynamite in the Black Rock that didn't go off.
I'm not a big fan of Jack, but I was definitely cheering him on by the end of last night's episode. It's been very cool seeing him go from a 'man of science' to a 'man of faith'.
Right: that's what I thought too.
But would it have been true? Was it attempting to prevent it that somehow ensured it would go off? If they couldn't be killed (which seemed to be his point), how was it that some were?
I think that the whole thing about them not being able to be killed is true -- when it applies to Locke. Locke/MIB cannot kill the candidates. At least not directly. He can't morph into the smoke monster and smash them upside the head, as he's done to others so many times before. But he CAN arrange to put the candidates in situations where they may be killed by other means, which is what happened last night. Sun, Jin, and Frank all drowned, and Sayid was killed by a bomb. Although MIB engineered the entire scheme, he didn't directly kill any of them.
So in that instance Jack was wrong; the candidates aren't invincible and they can be killed, just not directly by Locke.
Gotcha. That makes sense to me.
Though it doesn't explain why the dynamite fizzled in the scene with Richard.
For the same reason the Richard doesn't age. He can't be killed. The dynamite fizzled because Jacob choose him.
Jack's logic was sound (for all we know). Locke can't DIRECTLY kill the candidates. In this instance, they killed themselves because they messed with the bomb. In Jack's mind, if they hadn't touched it, it wouldn't have gone off.
I don't know if this is the exact same deal as Richard's. Richard can't die because Jacob gave him immortality. I don't know if it's the same as Jacob naming Candidates. I think that Jacob naming someone as a Candidate is connected to MIB's inability to kill Jacob without finding a loophole, rather than Richard's gift of immortality. After all, Richard can't kill himself (hence asking Jack to help him). We know now that the Candidates can (they futzed with the bomb and it exploded and killed some of them).

What if neither Sun nor Jin were candidates, and in fact it's their child who is?
I don't know about the child being a candidate - I don't buy it. MIB has been trying to kill candidates - we saw other names on the wall/wheel crossed off. I'm ok with believing the Kwons were the candidates and are now dead (crossed off).
I could be wrong, of course.
I am wondering what the deal with Aaron was - that Clair needed to raise him. By the same logic as the Kwons, Aaron could be a candidate...
It's so sad that their bodies are in a submarine at the bottom of the ocean, completely unrecoverable. The Kwons are just gone! Amazing episode. Very moving. OMGCANTWAITFORNEXTWEEK!
