I think the part that is confusing me (well, obviously not the only part, but the one that I'm really unclear about) is that Sawyer and Ben said that all of this was happening in the island BECAUSE the Oceanic Six left. That doesn't make much sense to me. Ben was gonna move the island whether the Oceanic Six left or not, he was gonna move it because of the people in the freighter and Charles Widmore, so if that's the case, why do the Oceanic Six have anything to do with the time-traveling flashes?
I think that it has to do with destiny...if the oceanic 6 didn't leave Jack would be there to still lead and because he left Daniel is the leader and he could be leading them wrong? He is like the Jack substitute...he is even in a shirt and tie like Jack was in when they crashed....if you truely want spoilers that aren't too spoilery...go to spoilerfix.com they list episodes and who are in them...some interesting things are listed
The next episode is called "This Place is Death" I can't wait. that's such a great title.

i want next Wednesday to be here... NOW!
Ok, so i haven't read the new posts cause I'm just watching now, so I'm taking notes on what's happening, but Danielle said that one by one her crew "got sick" and the implication was that she killed them. They're Retconning.
NEVERMIND, there we are. Danielle's shooting her husband
YAYA THEY'RE REUNITED (and it feels so good.)
And Charlotte speaks Korean. Did we know this? How did Jin know this?
Michael Emerson is the God of Acting
And there we get the episode title. ps Please don't kill Charlotte.
LOL at the flash right after they all get to the Orchid and Juliette jinxs them
OHSHIZZ We just had another "memory" show up it looks like. Seems like Daniel is gonna run into young Charlotte. And that also seems to indicate that Charlotte is going to die, cause, otherwise, why would Daniel tell young Charlotte to never come back.
And damn them, there goes Charlotte
Also
I DIDN'T NEED FRIGGIN SEE LOCKE'S SHIN BONE STICK OUT OF HIS GOD DAMNED LEG.
And ooh, Christian Shephard.
DESMOND!!!

Another solid episode. This season's writing and production has been outstanding.
"And Charlotte speaks Korean. Did we know this? How did Jin know this?"
I forget when but sometime last season Charlotte did speak Korean to Jin.
Yeah, we saw her speak Korean before at some point - this wasn't the first time. That's why people were (I'm SURE wrongly) thinking she might have been Marvin Candle's baby.
Very solid episode:
-- Smokey's attack was AWESOME old school Lost. We still have no idea what it really is, but WOW. Double the wow on the fact that it then tried to trick the rest of them into the temple! We've never seen THAT before!
-- If I remember right, the hieroglyphs on the temple wall were not there when Smokey attacked - then Jin jumped and they appeared. Did Danielle draw those?
-- What is WRONG with Danielle? What happened that she thinks her whole crew was "sick" enough to shoot them? Or was Smokey pretending to be them (she seemed to not be sure her husband was who he said he was)?
-- Loved the reunion with Jin and Sawyer. Loved when Jin got angry he started talking in Korean again.
-- Sad about Charlotte, but what was the deal with the weird things she was saying? Why did the memory of the well suddenly come to her?
-- Was Christian a ghost? Would he not be able to touch Locke? Was he Jacob? Very strange interaction.
-- Will Sawyer et al. now be stuck wherever they are in time since the wheel has been fixed? What are the implications of that going to be?
-- How will Ben get Sayid back now? Why can they start with just the four of them? LOVED Desmond's face when he realized who Faraday's mother was!
Another VERY strong episode - I didn't think it was possible, but this show just keeps getting better and better.
Yeah I remember Charlotte speaking it last season as well but I love Miles reaction...what he is from Koerea I am from Encino
Great episode...it got a little gory too...monster pulled off an arm and Locke's compound fracture
can't wait for next week
btw my new theory is that Charlotte is Ben and Annie's daughter
According to the Doc Jensen recap on EW.com we already heard Charlotte's Dad's name last season -- I want to say it was David Lewis (Not sure I have the name right) - but either way it wasn't Ben.
Something someone picked up that's mentioned in the comments on EW - the voice on the transmission Danielle and crew followed was Hurley reciting the numbers!
Next week's title is 316. I'm trying to figure out if that matches with any of the numbers in any mathematical way, but so far I've come up with nothing.
What is WRONG with Danielle? What happened that she thinks her whole crew was "sick" enough to shoot them? Or was Smokey pretending to be them (she seemed to not be sure her husband was who he said he was)?
Well, her husband *did* try to shoot her, but failed. I definitely think Smokey was pretending to be them for some reason. I hope we get more of the Danielle back story at some point, I'd love to see how Ben was able to get Alex.
-- Sad about Charlotte, but what was the deal with the weird things she was saying? Why did the memory of the well suddenly come to her?
I was thinking back to Daniel's experiments about sending the mouse's brain through time. I wonder if that was what was happening with Charlotte...that due to the island flashes her body wasn't traveling through time, but her mind was. She kept talking about her father, and seeming like a little girl. That might explain why she knew the well was important too...
-- What is WRONG with Danielle? What happened that she thinks her whole crew was "sick" enough to shoot them? Or was Smokey pretending to be them (she seemed to not be sure her husband was who he said he was)?
I think the question is more, is there something wrong with Danielle, or her crew or both of them? I think the question is what happened when they followed Smokey down the hatch, and how did they get back out? Especially since Danielle is convinced that's what made her crew sick.

Is it possible that Charlotte IS Annie? Charlotte was a Dharma member but left the island when she was a child and when all of the Dharma members were killed Annie was nowhere to be found. The producers have also said that we will learn whatever happened to Annie this season. I could be wrong because I don't remember the last age that we saw Annie at and I'm not sure if Ben and Charlotte ever had any interaction.
When Sawyer beat the holy hell out of Ben last season, wasn't Charlotte (along with Faraday and I believe Miles) right there? I'm almost positive of that.
Still, if this is some 20 years later, who's to say Ben would recognize her as Annie if she is her?
Also, wouldn't Charlotte remember she had another name? Seems like that would be a very convenient detail to leave out of her dying scene if it's true.
Another interesting thought I just had - remember back in Season one, Hurley said something to Walt along the lines of "Because I'm the hero of this story." -- I predicted then that this statement would be more true than we thought then -- I'm holding to that. Hurley is going to play a pivotal role in all this. I think that's part of why they're intentionally holding him to the side right now...
Unless some weird time thing is going on (which isn't too hard to believe, actually), Annie would be SIGNIFICANTLY older than Charlotte (who's 25). Annie looked to be the same age as Ben, and Ben was born in the 60s.
As to the weird things Charlotte was saying: I thought it was pretty clear that, what with all the time-jumping going on, her mind was continuing to jump through time in her head. Thus, she was responding to previous events in her life.
Woah. WOAH. What if Annie is Charlotte's MOTHER? And Ben possibly warned her to get off the island and never come back (to escape the purge), so Annie continually told her daughter that the Island wasn't real in order to protect her from its dangers, which she would face if she returned to the Island?
That makes more sense to me! I like that theory, Taryn.
I'm not sure I buy that Widmore is Faraday's father - a theory I've read a lot about, but if he is, that does create a HUGE conflict -- Ben wants to kill Widmore's child. If Ben finds out Faraday is Widmore's, he would have a hard time killing Annie's child's friend...
I think I just confused myself there...
Another thing that impresses me about this show is they've managed to add all these characters that are as endearing and enjoyable as the original castaways - most shows try to add characters at this scale and fail miserably.
My theory with Annie has always been that she was pregnant with Ben's child but died in childbirth which is what led Ben to begin all of this research. If this is true, I bet it probably happened around the time that Danielle had Alex, and Ben took Alex because he was so grief-stricken over the loss of his own child.
The only problem I have with the idea of Charlotte being Annie's (and presumably Ben's?) is that Ben was pretty cold when talking to her. I don't remember if Alex had already been killed when he spoke to Charlotte, but either way I would expect him to be a little warmer with her? I don't know.

I have to keep reminding myself that there is a disconnect between island time (where the "base time" is shortly after the freighter blew up - as long as it is possible for Jinn to have survived in the water) and outside time where three years have passed.
This was one of the best episodes ever but I thought there was some weakness about arguing that everyone has to go back to the island vs. Eloise saying we'll just have to work with what we have. Or was that just Ben's way of applying pressure on the Oceanic 6?

just to back up... last season in one of the episodes... Jin and Sun were talking and Jin said something to Sun in Korean... well Charlotte was next to them and she made a subtle gesture that she understood... Jin saw it and confronted her several scenes later... then it was never mentioned again until last night...
and Ji Yeon and is one CUTE little Asian baby!
oh and i'm listening to podcasts and reading stuff on LOST... and i'm pretty sure we're going to see how Ben gets Alex from Rousseau... so i still think we're gonna get more of her story in future episodes
and i honestly hope we get more of Charlotte... she's like the new Libby... a character appears for a few episodes and we still don't know too much about her
Updated On: 2/12/09 at 05:17 PM
Yeah - Libby - what was the deal with her??? And didn't she appear in the season finale last year for a few seconds?
Honestly, I hope the writers have a giant map somewhere with all these mysteries they need to explain. I want to be able to go back and watch the series start to finish and be like "OH, that's why that happened!" Not "They never DID explain this..."
I honestly think that Libby was meant to have a larger part, but because of the whole DWI thing they kicked her to the curb.
I mean, why else would they make a point of showing her in the mental institution? I hope that bringing her up again was a way for them to revisit that story line.

I forgot she had that - I knew Ana Lucia did...
Still, they NEED to do something with that - that was way too big a moment for them to ignore...
Yeah, both of them got DWIs on the same night on the same highway.
